Beating the first mission in Evil Dead: The Game is going to feel like a major accomplishment. As well it should, it has the toughest battle in the game in it. But that doesn't mean things are easier in the fourth mission. The fights may be easier, but the non-combat problems have just begun.
This mission introduces stealth into Evil Dead: The Game, proving it's more than just a fun little hack 'n' slash. For players that want to know what routes to take, this guide will take anyone from beginning to end and ensure that Pablo and Ash escape the town with nothing but perished deadites behind them.
How To Beat "It's Not Gonna Let Us Go!"
Looting The House
Although the car is the first thing marked, dead to the house directly in front of Pablo to get a bit more geared up. Enter from the lake on the right side (it's not deep enough to sink into). Snag a Shemp's Cola on the picnic table and an amulet on some boxes next to it. Go ahead and use the amulet right away.
Be sure to pick up all of the ammunition, even the stuff that is in red. Pablo will be switching weapons on this mission, so it's nice to have the ammunition for new guns already maxed out.
There is a choice here of a revolver, a pistol, or a rifle. The revolver is statistically superior and handles better for the next few objectives, so take that one and leave the rest. Now head to the car and get to the next checkpoint.
Clearing Out The First Point
It should be noted that cars do not count as well-lit areas for the purposes of reducing the fear meter. So with each stop, be sure to hang out indoors long enough to empty the meter and make the driving portion of the mission as expeditious as possible.
At this first point, there are several low-level deadites to clear out.
There are multiple cars in this mission, but not another one nearby, so if players choose to crash into the group, be warned that Pablo may have to walk on foot for a while. Remember that Pablo does not yet have access to a melee weapon, so any deadites taken out will likely need to be dispatched with the revolver. Ideally, exit the car a safe distance away, then pick them off one by one (headshots are instant kills). Like in the third mission, these deadites do explode, so keep them far away.
Some of the deadites will have dropped machetes, pick up one for future melee encounters. Wait around here for the fear meter to empty out. Take the ammunition from the camping area and get next to the chainsaw to trigger the next location objective marker.
Getting El Brujo's Amulet
At the next objective, deadites will ambush the car. Keep driving past them; if the car is stopped or slow next to deadites, the car will be instantly destroyed. Turn around after these deadites show themselves and run them over on the road. Any stragglers can be easily mopped up with the machete, which can kill any minion with a two light hits, button prompt combo..
Once inside the glowing red house, Pablo will be ambushed by five deadites. none of them are above the minion level, so get rid of them with ease. One of them will drop a Shemp's Cola, pick that up. There are no more tricks here, snag El Brujo's Amulet, wait for the fear meter to empty, and get to the next location.
Chasing Ash's Hand
El Brujo's Amulet says that it cloaks Pablo, but this is only true in certain areas; between points, Pablo will have to fight deadites as usual, they can see him fine. But around objectives, Pablo is only seen if he gets too close to a deadite's front side. These waves of enemies have bosses that accompany them. Anybody who beat the third mission understands that these are deadly and it's hard to survive fighting one boss, fighting two or more is pretty much game over.
Don't engage any deadites at the Railway Loop, simply get to Ash's hand without making a fuss. It will scurry off to Dead End.
There is a boss that wanders the street in Dead End. Do not enter the house from the front or else this cloning boss will attack. Instead, enter from the back and get to the hand.
This house is a veritable trove of treasures. Pick up all the ammunition as usual in addition to three Shemp's Colas and two amulets. There is a sawblade gun on the mattress, pick that up since it's very effective against a boss that is almost here. A rare meat cleaver is tempting, but the common machete is a bit more effective for the work ahead, so stick with this melee weapon. Empty out the fear meter, then approach the hand and get Ash's location.
Sneaking Into Jake's Gas 'N Go
It's a bit of a hike/drive to Jake's Gan 'N Go, but there is a light stop just outside. Empty out the meter and then prepare for some stealth. If Pablo is seen here, the odds of survival are minimal.
Although the south, west, and east sides are more well-lit and welcoming, there are deadites that can see Pablo here. Sneak around to the north side where a patrolling guard moves back and forth.
Wait for his back to turn, then rush in and find Ash. Pick up the amulet next to him, wait for the fear meter to run out, then head to the next checkpoint.
Getting Gas
Pablo needs to get gas while Ash gets a car ready. Beating the second mission can be done in any order but this time the gas can locations are only revealed one at a time. Enter the Wadesboro Junkyard from the south and hug the left wall behind the buildings. There is a patrolling guard at the front, wait for it to move away.
This initial guard is the only one on this path that can spot Pablo. From here, go straight toward the gas and pick it up (along with the Shemp's Cola sitting next to it). Exit the way that Pablo came in, minding the patrolling guard at the front on the way out.
Shockley Auto is simple to get into. Use the stairs around the back to get into the second floor, pick up the gas, then leave. There aren't any deadites in this area, so don't worry about stealth.
The final gas canister doesn't have any guards either, but it does spawn an unavoidable boss fight after picking it up. This is the entire reason the sawblade gun was picked up, so don't be scared. Eligos, this boss, is identical to the final boss in the third mission, so if players beat him once, they can do it again.
Stay around the gas tanks (don't worry, they don't explode) and use them to gain cover from his attacks. He will teleport somewhere close to Pablo. If Pablo stays next to him, he'll do a melee attack. If Pablo runs away, he'll launch a ranged attack. It's recommended to run away and behind a canister each time, then first a sawblade after the ranged attack is resolved, wait for him to teleport, and repeat the sequence.
Getting Away
It's time to escape, hang out by the building to empty Pablo's fear meter, then bolt for the checkpoint. There is no more combat to be done after arriving at the point, so use an amulets or Shemp's Colas. Ash will be waiting in a car, hop on in.
This driving sequence is not difficult, but it is lengthy and fear will increase, so use a matchstick and get Pablo's fear meter to zero again before hopping inside. Stick to the main roads and do not slow down. If the car is destroyed, the mission is failed. Don't worry about running over deadites but also don't move to avoid contact with them either. So long as the car is on the road and moving fast enough so deadites can't get in, this will be a well-earned victory.
