When the Evil Dead game arrives later this year, it has a chance to bring a smile to fans both the original movie franchise and the offshoot television series. It's already known that Bruce Campbell's Ash Williams will be front and center, so will the Deadites. The Evil Dead game reveal trailer also showed viewers that there is going to be at least a hat tip to the entirety of the franchise. The real question now is just how Saber Interactive plans to implement the nods to nostalgia and those hat tips to the fans.

The Evil Dead franchise has a lot of content to pull from. It's also got a very loyal group of fans that is likely going to be keeping its eyes on just how this game is pulled off. First and foremost is this game should play well. That's obviously right at the top of any wish list, as vague as it is, but Saber Interactive isn't putting out just any multiplayer "zombie" shooter. It attached the Evil Dead name to this one and that means there are specific things that should be included.

Real, Good Dialogue

Based on the Evil Dead game's reveal trailer, there is going to be at least some dialogue in cut scenes and whatnot. But what would make this game great is if the dialogue is more than a catchphrase thrown out here and there. Including actual back and forth, that sounds like some real effort was put into the dialogue would be a welcome addition. Saber Interactive should make sure that when the different characters interact with one another, however that's eventually pulled off, it should sound as natural as a movie.

A Variety Of Villains

While most of the Deadites in the Evil Dead franchise are basically zombies, one of the fun things about the baddies in the movies is that they aren't just zombies. These are, after all, demons that are possessing people. It's not just dead people coming back to life. The television show did some fun things with some of the monsters brought into the world, but it was Evil Dead: Army of Darkness the game should pull plenty of inspiration from.

When Ash gets transported back into medieval times, he does battle with several different kinds of Deadites. The game would be well served to include the zombie kind of monster certainly, but it should also have skeletons ready to do battle and take on the various Evil Dead heroes players will be able to use.

One really fun direction the game could take is to have the evil Ash Williams show up. It's clear Evil Dead is pulling from the trip to the past with at least one of the heroes, so there's no reason it couldn't also pull back the main villain from Army of Darkness. The big bad, who was literally birthed out of Ash's body, seems like a solid choice a level boss.
