The film follows Scott Pilgrim, your regular (or not so regular) 22-year-old bassist who had a normal life with a girlfriend and a band, but this was before he met Ramona Flowers and falls head over heels for her. But in order to date her, Scott needs to battle her seven evil exes and win, video game style. As he battles her evil exes he gets to know her better while also confronting his own insecurities and discovering the true meaning of love. This begins his journey of self-discovery, as he fights to his wits end to win Ramona's heart.

From the in-depth story to the gaming inspired fight inspired scenes, Wright was able to bring to life all comic book inspired visuals and bring it onto the big screen using his signature quick cuts while also keeping true to the themes of love and self-discovery. Not to forget the music that gave Scott Pilgrim vs. The World the distinction needed for its time, which features a mix of indie and alternative rock music which gave the movie its energetic atmosphere. The concept of using bands and music to fight enemies was a touch of brilliance and was a vital role in shaping the films unconventional style and narrative.
