Eternals isn't even out yet, but fans and even some stars are already wondering about the future of the newest MCU heroes. Kit Harington, who will play the character Dane Whitman in the upcoming film, has now revealed which Avenger he wants to eventually work with.

While Eternals will introduce a new group of heroes to root for in their first solo outing, if previous MCU films were any indication, there will most likely be plenty of crossovers involving some of the Eternals and other fan-favorite heroes moving forward. While it seems unlikely that Eternals will get a sequel down the line, the future of the characters in the film appears to be more open.

In a recent interview for Fandom, Harington delved deeper into his latest Marvel role, as he is already dwelling on the possibility of teaming up with the Avengers in future films. When asked which Avenger he would most like to see Dane Whitman team up with in the future, Harington responded, “Yeah, I mean, there’s loads! Personally, I don’t know how they do this, but I’ve always been a big fan of Paul Rudd and I just love Ant-Man. I don’t know if that would ever fit or work, but that’s who I’d love to work with. I’d also love to work with Taika Watiti at some point, if he was ever gonna direct another one [after Thor: Love and Thunder]." While there's no telling which heroes will team up with who, Harington's character seems to have the best chance for numerous interactions with other Avengers as phase 4 and beyond continues to expand.

The character of Dane Whitman will first appear as a human who works at the Natural History Museum in Eternals, but as depicted in the comics, he will eventually become the superhero known as the Black Knight. How much the character will differentiate from the comics and the amount of appearances he might make in the upcoming films is still unknown, but that hasn't stopped Harington's enthusiasm for continuing to play the character. "...But you want to lay the groundwork of someone that you want to continue playing and I think that in this movie I’ve done that and I’m happy with what I’ve done as far as I like him, he’s got some mystery, and that’s where we’re at," said Harington.

Harington has had nothing but positive things to say regarding his work on Eternals. The Game of Thrones alum recently discussed his seamless transition into the enormous Marvel Cinematic Universe, commenting on the surprising similarities between working on the hit HBO fantasy series and Chloé Zhao's Eternals set, particularly when it came to shooting in real locations as opposed to soundstages filled with a blue screen.

Although the 26th film in the ongoing universe is set up to be one of the MCU's most ambitious films to date, the expectations may be too much to overcome, as the film is already receiving mixed reviews from critics. But one certainty, though, is Zhao's indie experience (like her most recent work on the Oscar-winning Nomadland) will no doubt make Eternals a refreshing change to an, at times, formulaic MCU. Eternals' star-studded ensemble also features Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.

Eternals is set for an exclusive theatrical release on November 5th, 2021.
