Aside from interesting twists and turns throughout the game’s story, players of Epic Seven can also get dragged within the RPG’s rather deep unit collection system. With each unit bringing unique skills and synergies within teams, players might be interested just which among the stronger 4-Star characters would be worth collecting, especially when the coveted 5-Stars are much tougher to acquire.

10 Angel Of Light Angelica (Light, Mage)

Angel Of Light Angelica

An angelic variant of Angelica, the serene Angel of Light Angelica, appears quite similar to Bayonetta’s angels and is perhaps the most coveted 4-Star character due to her practicality and accessibility. When acquired through the Moonlight Summon in the turn-based game, she boasts some of the best Utility out there, coupled with decent Defense and HP. Chief among her strengths is Guardian Of Light (Passive) that not only grants immunity to stun effects but also removes debuffs, boosts her Combat Readiness, and even allows her to nullify other Skills.

Moreover, her Judgment of Angels (S3) not only removes buffs from enemies but also disables them from getting buffs and silences them for a turn - removing a ton of the enemy’s combat options on the get-go. Perhaps Angel of Light’s only weakness is her reliance on cooldowns or her skills, leaving her a bit vulnerable when her kit isn’t planned properly.

9 Champion Zerato (Dark, Mage)

Champion Zerato

Acquiring Champion Zerato through the Moonlight Summon gives players access to one of the best combat-oriented 4-Stars in the turn-based game with skillset similar to some of Marvel Contest of Champions’s heroes of the same rank, boasting decent stats to Utility, Attack, and Defense. Key to his strengths are his abilities that naturally tear through opponents. His Iron Will (Passive) makes him immune to effects that inflict Stun, Sleep, and decrease his Hit Chance. He even gets a 80-percent chance to counterattack when debuffed by foes.

Meanwhile, the rest of his attacks dish out mean effects, such as transferring debuffs to opponents (Earthen Rage) and potentially decreasing the DEF and ATK of foes (Cataclysm). Perhaps his only weaknesses include his rather low Speed and Health, with his lackluster speed needing players to pair him with another area opener to utilize him to his full advantage.

8 Sinful Angelica (Dark, Soul Weaver)

Sinful Angelica

The more wicked Sinful Angelica is a more mellow fighter compared to her other 4-Star counterparts, but boasts some of the best Utility and Defense in the game. At its core, Sinful Angelica is a nifty utility support on the offense, especially when her Dark Salvation (S3) gives self-targeted immortality alongside ATK and SPD buffs for allies. When immortal, Debilitating Strike (S1) allows her to dual attack, and Soul Harvest (Passive) ensures enemies can’t revive for a counter-attack.

This Angelica variant’s toolkit makes her similar to some 4-Star Genshin Impact characters, who also focus on aiding their stronger allies. Perhaps the only caveats of Sinful Angelica would be her lackluster damage, especially since her buffs can’t be applied to herself. Moreover, despite the usefulness of her immortality, her constant reliance on this status does make her rather vulnerable to dispel effects.

7 Blood Blade Karin (Dark, Thief)

Blood Blade Karin

After players acquire Blood Blade Karin from the Moonlight Summon, players get access to one of the more interesting units in the game that has decent Speed, HP, and Attack stats. As she brandishes her blood blade, Blood Blade Karin specializes in farming mobs as her abilities get decent boosts when she loses health (Cursed Sword, Passive). This is a neat ability to pair with Blade Art: Dragon (S3), which sacrifices 20-percent of her Health to boost her ATK, alongside an extra turn whenever she defeats an enemy. Moreover, Sequential Cutter (S1) is a nifty ability to tie everything together, especially when the damage she deals here is returned to her as HP.

Karin’s skills is quite similar to some 4-Stars in Fate/Grand Order who can be built to contend with the base forms of their stronger counterparts. While her toolkit makes her optimal for PVP encounters, she still needs the right gear to become a devastating performer in combat. Not only that, she suffers from rather suboptimal defense and fragility, meaning she needs the right toolkit to perform properly in the combat of the turn-based game.

6 Assassin Cidd (Dark, Thief)

Assassin Cidd

Wielding his twin tomahawks, Assassin Cidd - who isn’t related to Final Fantasy’s Cid - becomes one of the best Utility/Speed units among 4-Stars in the game, especially when raised properly. His Swift Action (Passive) ensures that he gets an ATK and Combat Readiness boost whenever someone dies - giving him decent buffs for the rest of his skills. For instance, his Slice (S1) can reduce the Defense for enemies he hits on top of massive damage dealt in proportion to his Speed. Meanwhile, Execution (S3) not only Silences the target, but also decreases their CR by half. Moreover, this also removes 20 Souls from the target.

At its core, this immediately transforms Assassin Cidd into an excellent debuffer that can eliminate many enemies simply through Silence and DEF breaks. However, Cidd suffers heavily from low base ATK and DEF that needs buffs in order to shine, making him heavily dependent on his allies for maximized performance in the turn-based game.

5 Mercedes (Fire, Mage)

Mercedes

Similar to other 4-Star units, Mercedes has a base kit that boasts above-average Defense and Attack compared to some units. While not possessing a direct Passive, the rest of her skills allow her to become a devastating Mage when raised. For instance, Divine Bolt (S1) boosts Combat Readiness of Mercedes to allow her to perform better in combat more consistently. Meanwhile, Dimensional Rupture (S2) can dispel a buff from opponents, and may even get an automatic activation whenever Mercedes gets extra Attack. Likewise, Blazing Eye of Kal (S3) boosts the Attack of all allies while attacking enemies.

Despite her consistent performance as an AOE specialist, Mercedes needs proper raising in order to become a practical member of the party. She also has low base HP and can’t cast debuffs, making her a straightforward attacker in the turn-based title.

4 Cidd (Earth, Thief)

Cidd

Despite his rather straightforward appearance as a rogue, Cidd - who isn’t connected to Final Fantasy’s Cid - excels among 4-Star as one of the units with the highest base Utility and Speed stats. In terms of abilities, Wind’s Resolve (Passive) ensures that Cidd gets a Speed boost and even a random buff whenever he scores a Critical Hit. This works well with Whirlwind (S1) that deals damage proportional to Cidd’s Speed, and Hack (S3) that not only gives an extra turn when killing enemies but also gives extra Speed when attacking with an Advantageous Element.

At its core, his toolkit allows Cidd to become a devastating single-target specialist with incredible base Speed that becomes a key component of his attacks. His effects that grant extra turns make him a good mob clearer, though his low base DEF makes him extremely fragile. His only way of compensating for this weakness is to have extremely high Crit Rate and a ton of Speed, lest he becomes a glass cannon in the turn-based game.

3 Challenger Dominiel (Dark, Mage)

Challenger Dominiel

While looking rather hip and chic, Challenger Dominiel is a balanced Attack and Defense specialist that relies on boosting the team’s attack for overall performance. Her Electric Charge (Passive) allows teammates to give Dominiel stacked ATK boosts when dealing critical hits, which is removed from her after attacking. This makes comboing with the rest of her other skills crucial, such as straightforward Electrocute (S1) and Supercharge (S3) that grants her an extra turn on top of boosting the Critical Hit Rate of all allies for three (3) turns, allowing her to potentially get three (3) turns’ worth of ATK boosts with her Passive.

Her straightforward kit makes Challenger Dominiel a decent DPS in the turn-based game despite being a main supporter, allowing her to one-shot bosses with the right buffs. However, her low HP, Defense, and Speed make her extremely vulnerable, requiring shields to ensure she’s kept safe. This makes her somewhat of a glass cannon, sharing a similar low defense plus high attack approach like some glass cannon Pokemon.

2 Blaze Dingo (Light, Soul Weaver)

Blaze Dingo

Armed with a couple of swords with a huge gauntlet, Blaze Dingo boasts some of the highest Utility and Defense among the 4-Stars in the turn-based game. In terms of his toolkit, his lack of Passives is compensated with rather nifty skills that capitalizes on various situations. For instance, Punishment (S1) heals the lowest-HP ally with the damage dealt, whereas Divine Punishment (S2) is an AOE that not only heals the lowest-HP ally but also has a high chance of decreasing the Defense of all enemies. Lastly, his Sacred Power (S3) not only heals the target and boosts their ATK, but also grants themselves Invincibility for a turn.

At its core, Blaze Dingo is one of the game’s best healer/DPS combos, especially with his self-invincibility and ATK buffs. This is especially the case with his constant healings, and extending invincibility to his allies - making him a decent damage specialist. Players only need to compensate for his rather lower base health and heavy reliance on stats to perform optimally in combat, which is somewhat shared when playing as a healer in other RPGs.

1 Crimson Armin (Light, Knight)

Crimson Armin

Catgirl Crimson Armin boasts a rather bulky pink armor that transforms her into a cutesy knight that packs a huge base Defense and HP stats. In the case of her skills in the turn-based game, Takedown (S1) is a decent taunt that ensures enemies attack her. However, where her skills shine would be her defensive capabilities, such as Security State (Passive) gives allies damage mitigation, with Shield of Holy Spirit (S3) giving allies both Immunity and Invincibility for two (2) turns.

These abilities easily make Armin one of the best tanks among the 4-Stars in the game. However, players do need to consider pairing her with the right allies, especially since she suffers from low base Attack and Speed, as well as mediocre damage.
