When the Epic Games Store free game for June 20 was first revealed, it was claimed to be LEGO Builder's Journey. But for one reason or another, LEGO Builder's Journey was swapped out and replaced with Freshly Frosted and content for the free-to-play game Rumble Club. Those are the freebies that Epic Games Store users can claim right now as they wait for the June 27 freebie to become available.

Starting June 27, Epic Games Store users will be able to snag Sunless Skies: Sovereign Edition for their digital libraries. Like most Epic Games Store free games, Sunless Skies: Sovereign Edition will be available for exactly one week, so PC gamers have until July 4 to claim it. Once July 4 rolls around, Sunless Skies: Sovereign Edition will be removed from the Epic Games Store free games lineup and replaced with something else, though fans will have to wait until next week to find out more.

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Sunless Skies is a horror RPG that takes inspiration from the likes of HP Lovecraft and HG Wells. The game has players captain a "spacefaring steam locomotive" as they explore a twisted cosmic universe. Players are able to engage in real-time space combat, all the while making crucial decisions that impact the various people aboard the train. Since this is the Sovereign Edition of the game, it offers the complete Sunless Skies experience, with all post-launch content bundled in. Sunless Skies earned critical acclaim when it first released in 2019, so Epic Games Store users should be sure to claim it come June 27.
While Epic Games Store users wait for Sunless Skies, they have another critically-acclaimed game to snag. Freshly Frosted is a highly-rated puzzler that was in fact one of the highest-rated games of 2022. While some EGS users may still be disappointed that LEGO Builder's Journey was removed from the free games lineup, others will be happy that the store is giving away two high-quality indies two weeks in a row. It will be interesting to see if the Epic Games Store is able to keep that streak going in July.
