Starting April 13, Epic Games Store users can claim Mordhau and Second Extinction for free. Every Thursday at 10am CT, the Epic Games Store rotates its free game offerings, giving users some new titles to claim for free while revealing what's coming next. This week is no exception to the rule, meaning Epic Games Store users now have a fresh pair of games to snag for their digital libraries.

From now until April 13 at 10am CT, Epic Games Store users can claim Dying Light Enhanced Edition and Shapez completely for free. Dying Light Enhanced Edition is definitely one of the higher profile Epic Games Store free games that's been given away this year. While it earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its release, Dying Light developed a dedicated following of fans who enjoyed the game's parkour mechanics and open world zombie mayhem. This version of the game includes The Following expansion, which adds a brand-new area to explore, a buggy to drive around, and more.

Dying Light Enhanced Edition should keep Epic Games Store users plenty busy while they wait for the next free games to come along. Mordhau and Second Extinction will be available for Epic Games Store users to claim from April 13 to April 20, at which point they will be replaced by another batch of free games, though the next free titles have not been revealed at the time of this writing.

Epic Games Store Free Games April 2023

  • Dying Light Enhanced Edition (April 6 - April 13)
  • Shapez (April 6 - April 13)
  • Mordhau (April 13 - April 20)
  • Second Extiction (April 13 - April 20)

For those unfamiliar with the games, Mordhau is an online multiplayer medieval melee game that earned mostly positive reviews when it first released in 2019. So far, Mordhau is only available on PC, but there are plans to bring the game to more platforms at some point down the line. It should make for a strong new addition to the Epic Games Store free games lineup, even though it's not quite as popular as it was a few years ago.

Second Extinction, meanwhile, is a co-op first-person shooter game where players mow down waves of dinosaurs. Second Extinction is still in early access, so Epic Games Store users will have to keep that in mind when they claim it next week.

The Epic Games Store free games will continue throughout 2023, so fans will have plenty more free titles to add to their collection in the coming weeks. The Epic Games Store typically announces the free games a week in advance, except when it's running one of its mystery game promotions, so fans should almost always know what to expect from one week to the next.
