Enshrouded has released three small updates that fix performance issues and make gameplay adjustments. Enshrouded was released in early access on January 24, and these are the first of many updates the game will likely receive during 2024.

Developed by Keen Games, Enshrouded is a survival game with RPG elements. The game is set in the huge, mysterious world of Embervale, which can be explored by players as they craft items to survive and become more powerful. Enshrouded has had a pretty good launch, with over 90,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, as expected with an early access release, it’s also filled with several bugs and performance issues.

Enshrouded received three small hotfixes recently. Released soon after Enshrouded’s early acces launch, Hotfix 1 addressed server list crashes. It was followed by Hotfix 2 on the same day. The second patch fixes several random crashes and stops a minor issue in multiplayer in which players would get incorrect popup invitations to sessions. Soon after that, the Hotfix 3 was available, fixing even more crashes, including a specific one that happened in the building menu. An issue where players who had over 60 FPS had their mouse wheel not working correctly has also been fixed. According to the patch notes, Enshrouded has also been optimized to work with AMD graphics cards and older CPUs.

It’s not yet clear when the next update for Enshrouded will be out, but considering how quickly these hotfixes were implemented, it’s not too far-fetched to imagine more of them will be arriving shortly. Right now, Keen Games still has no official roadmap, but the team is working on it. The feedback page for Enshrouded shows that the team’s major priority is to fix any major issues the game currently has before implementing new features. The most asked features by players include allowing for a player-based quest progression, a weather system, and difficulty settings. Hopefully, the addition of new features can help Enshrouded to stand out among the best survival games.

It seems like 2024 may be a pretty big year for survival games. January started well with the release of both Enshrouded and the incredibly successful Pokemon-inspired Palworld, which sold over 8 million copies in less than a week. February will see the release of Inflexion Games’ Nightingale and Ironwood Studios’ Pacific Drive. Later in the year, other big releases include games like the widely expected Ark 2.

Hotfix 3 - January 25

• Stability
• Several crashes have been fixed.
• A rare crash in the building menu has been fixed.
• An issue that caused that the game wouldn’t start and show a message “Failed to initialize the graphics system” on older AMD graphics cards has been fixed.
• CPUs that do not support AVX should now be able to host sessions with more than 2 players.
• Controls
• Fixed an issue that on framerates above 60fps the mouse wheel could skip steps (mostly in the action bar and building menu).

Hotfix 2 - January 24

• Stability
• Several causes of random crashes have been fixed.
• Multiplayer
• An issue that could lead to the session invite popup to incorrectly remain on the screen has been fixed.

• An update is available that should address server list crashes. Please make sure you close and update the game.
• Steam limits public P2P sessions displayed to 50, so you might need to find your friends through your Steam friends list. We are looking into addressing the issue.
