Although much of Enshrouded involves players gathering resources, crafting, and fighting against the threats of the Shroud, a base-building system rounds off the survival experience. After all, if there is no safe haven to retreat to at the end of a long day, it will make survival next to impossible.

That said, the world of Embervale is not exactly open to players to build whatever they want and wherever they like, there are certain limits that must be taken into consideration. If you are seeking a way to increase the base building area and range in Enshrouded, you are in the right place.

Expanding Build Area and Range in Enshrouded

First things first, the game will introduce players to the concept of the Flame Altar very early on in the game. It is only through the construction of this structure that a base can be built in the first place. Upon placing it, the initial starting space for building is limited to 40x40x40 spaces. It is a fairly large area for a start, but as players unlock more NPCs and, subsequently, more recipes, space will soon become a premium.

It is thus imperative that more space is found, and that can be done via the Flame Altar as well. The only way in the game to increase building area and range is to upgrade the Flame Altar using Shroud Cores. Each level gained by the altar will expand the build area that players can work with and leave more room for experimentation and customization.

Getting Shroud Cores in Enshrouded

A valuable resource like Shroud Cores is not going to be lying around, just waiting to be picked up. Instead, to get their hands on this vital upgrade material, players will have to defeat the many bosses that can be found around the world. Each vanquished boss will drop a Shroud Core, so be sure to always head back to base and expand the build area and range whenever possible.

With more space to work with, it will become easier to construct proper shelters and shops for the various NPCs that the player will eventually rescue, paving the way to overcome the threat of the Shroud.
