Highlights

  • Enshrouded offers skills for players to specialize in gameplay, like magic use for wizard characters.
  • New wizards should carry a torch for melee combat and light source, plus a shield for defense against ranged attacks.
  • Basic staff weapons in Enshrouded use limited charges, making staves less efficient than wands when it comes to ammo.

Whilst Enshrouded doesn’t have classes, it does have skills that can be used to create a character that specializes in a particular type of gameplay. This includes skills that relate to magic use. This means that players are free to create a character that could be termed a wizard.

Enshrouded: Best Classes For Beginners

There are twelve classes available for players to choose from in Enshrouded, but some are arguably better than others.

Enshrouded, released in early 2024, is an action roleplaying game that features a huge, fully hand-crafted map. The game has been praised for the attention to detail of the world-building, and depth of gameplay. Playing this game as a wizard is going to be a little more challenging solo than going for a melee specialization.

8 Torch

New Players Need Light And A Melee Weapon

Torch Wizard Weapon In Enshrouded

Stats:

  • Damage: 9
  • Durability: 50

Crafting requirements:

  • Twigs: 1
  • Plant Fiber: 1

Why is a Torch in a list of wizard weapons for new Enshrouded players? For two reasons. As a new wizard, the player is going to struggle to do enough damage at range to kill enemies before they close to melee range. This is especially true if they are fighting in a confined space. Having a backup melee weapon, in this case, is beneficial.

Additionally, the Torch is a light source that can be used when exploring dark places. It doesn’t do an awful lot of damage, but it does enough to finish off enemies that have already been damaged by a wand or staff. Torches are also very simple to craft.

7 Shield

To Be Used In Conjunction With A One-Handed Wand

Shield Wizard Weapon In Enshrouded

Stats:

  • Block: 2
  • Parry: 10
  • Durability: 50

Crafting requirements:

Another oddity on a list of wizard weapons for Enshrouded players. However, all wand weapons are one-handed. Leaving the offhand free to carry a shield for the extra defensive bonuses against ranged attacks. It is also useful if the player needs to enter into melee range in the early game or when fighting at close quarters.

Enshrouded: Best Healer Skills

Players looking to buff their chances of survival in Enshrouded need not look further than some of the game's best healer skills.

The basic shield can be crafted by the player, and doesn’t need a crafting NPC to help them craft it. The wood and string are very easy to find as well. There are better shields, but by the time the player can acquire these, they likely won’t need a shield anymore as a wizard.

6 Wand

The Basic Player Crafted One-Handed Wand

Stats:

  • Damage: 11
  • Mana regen: 1
  • Overcharge: 10%
  • Attack speed: 0.6 seconds
  • Durability: 150

Crafting requirements:

  • Bones: 2

The basic player-craftable wand is a surprisingly useful weapon. It does low damage, but it does not require spell charges in the same way that staff weapons do. It is basically a ranged attack weapon with unlimited ammo. And being one-handed, it can be used in conjunction with a shield.

The player will need two bones to craft the basic wand, and these are easily obtained by killing one or two wolves that spawn close to the starting position. Overall, a wand is a useful weapon to carry, even if the player is using a staff as their main weapon. If they run out of staff charges, they can switch to the wand.

5 Crackling Wand

A Solid Upgrade Over The Basic Wand

Stats:

  • Damage: 14
  • Mana regen: 2
  • Overcharge: 10%
  • Attack speed: 0.6 seconds
  • Durability: 250

The Crackling Wand is one of the low-level weapons that is in the loot table for chests that are found in the POI close to the starting area. It is a slight upgrade over the simple player craftable wand. The player will likely loot one of these within the first couple of hours of play.

This is a one-handed weapon, so it can be used in conjunction with a shield. This is a good combination when taking on archer enemies or any other enemy that uses a ranged attack.

4 Staff

Simple Crafted Two-Hand Staff Weapon

Staff Wizard Weapon In Enshrouded

Stats:

  • Power: 7

Crafting requirements:

This is one of only two player-crafted staff weapons for wizards in Enshrouded. The player will need to have located and freed the Alhemist crafting NPC to unlock the blueprint for this staff. This is a two-handed weapon, and unlike two-handed melee weapons, it has no parry or block bonus.

Enshrouded: Best Early-Game Food Recipes

Finding suitable food options can be hard during the early stages of Enshrouded. Here's a list of the most appropriate recipes to consider.

Staff weapons in Enshrouded use a unique system for ammo. The player has to craft charges that have limited use. The staff itself can carry however many charges the inventory stat indicates. If the player runs out of charges, the staff becomes useless.

3 Ice Bolt Charges

Basic Staff Charges For New Wizards

Ice Bolt Charges For Wizard Weapons In Enshrouded

Stats:

  • Damage: 26 ice damage
  • Mana cost: 38
  • Casting time: 0.5 seconds

Crafting requirements:

Ice Bolt charges are the first staff charges that a new wizard will be able to craft. The Alchemist NPC unlocks the blueprint for these. They have a fairly low crafting cost. However, it should be noted that farming the Shroud Liquid is going to expose the player to some risk, as they will have to explore one of the large Shroud areas to find this.

Ice Bolt charges will see the new wizard through until they are ready to move on to using the Fireball I charges, which offer greater efficiency in crafting cost and damage.

2 Fireball I Charges

Basic Fireball Spell For Staff Weapons

Fireball I Charges For Wizard Weapons In Enshrouded

Stats:

  • Damage: 51 fire damage
  • Mana cost: 46
  • Cast time: 0.8 seconds

Crafting requirements:

  • Resin: 10
  • Tar: 1
  • Bonemeal: 1

The Fireball I charge for staff weapons is the easiest to craft of all the charges and perfect for wizards during the early part of the game. The Alchemist NPC will craft these. However, the resource requirements are a little complex, and it will require some time farming to craft a stack of these charges.

Enshrouded: Best Tank Skills

The Tank's job in Enshrouded is to take as much damage as possible without dying. These perks make that tall order a little easier.

Fire damage is pretty effective across the board, and these charges are ideal to use with a staff when grinding POI for loot, as they have decent damage and a lower crafting cost than other charges.

1 Spiritual Cane

An Upgrade Over The Basic Staff

Spiritual Cane Wizard Weapon In Enshrouded

Stats:

  • Power: 17

Crafting requirements:

  • Shroud Wood: 3
  • Bonemeal: 4
  • Resin: 2

The Spiritual Cane is the second of the player-craftable staff weapons for wizards in Enshrouded. It is a pretty good upgrade over the basic staff, with better power. The downside of this staff is that farming the Shroud Wood to craft it is going to be a little risky and could take some time.

The Alchemist NPC is needed to craft this staff, so the player will need to locate and free them first before they gain access to this weapon. However, once they have crafted it, they won’t need to find a better weapon until the mid-game.
