Binary Haze Interactives’ 2D action RPG, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights was released in partnership with Limited Run Games in physical format on March 8th, 2022.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is described by Binary Haze Interactive as a “challenging dark fantasy Metroidvania fairy tale.” Ender Lilies originally launched in June 2021 on the Nintendo Switch and Steam before launching on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 4 shortly after.

The physical release comes on the back of the game selling a very respectable 600,000 copies. The physical release is being sold on behalf of publisher Binary Haze Interactive, and as such will not form part of the numbered Limited Run Games Collection. Pre-orders of the Standard Edition will include a physical copy of Ender Lilies, with the Special Edition featuring the copy of the game, reversible poster, enamel pin, and the original soundtrack by award-winning artist Mili who have previously contributed to the anime Ghost in the Shell.

Binary Haze Interactive describes its title as a “dark fantasy 2D action RPG that sees the players try to unravel the mystery of the kingdom destroyed by the "Rain of Death." Players will journey through the sprawling and hauntingly beautiful locations of "Land’s End," including a submerged forest, a sealed-off contaminated underground cavern, and a grand castle. In the many places players visit on this sorrowful adventure, formidable bosses await that will gladly claim a player's life given even the slightest chance. Defeat these powerful foes and release them from their unending curse to turn them into allies. Overcome the challenges before and search for the truth with powerful knights at the players' side.”

Ender Lilies currently has an 84 rating for the Nintendo Switch version on Metacritic, with its other available formats on very similar scores. Despite venturing into an already crowded market for Metroidvania-type titles (especially on the Nintendo Switch), Ender Lilies has performed admirably. Clearly drawing influences from titles such as Hollow Knight,Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and its spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, it has won over players with its art design, combat mechanics, and a stellar soundtrack with a wide variety of instrumental tracks.

Traditionally Metroidvania-type titles aren’t exactly "easy" to pick up and play unless a player is well versed in the genre and Ender Lilies is no exception, despite this, Ender Lilies was one of the strongest Metroidvanias of 2021, and one of the best examples of the genre available on Nintendo Switch. With a respectable playtime of roughly 15-20 hours, it could be argued that a physical release on the back of its digital success was a logical step.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is available digitally now for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 4. Physical editions launched on March 8th, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
