Last fall, Disney found itself another hit movie in Encanto thanks to its release both in theaters and on Disney Plus. Now it appears that the film's director is hinting at a sequel to the popular Disney film as long as some conditions are met.

Disney's Encanto released around Thanksgiving last year and almost immediately found a level of popularity that put it in line with other Disney animated features like Frozen. The film, which chronicles a Hispanic family where all the members have some sort of magical powers but one, was in fact popular enough that fans have been wondering whether there might eventually be an Encanto 2.

Earlier this week, the movie's director said that there's a chance that people will get to see more of the singing and dancing that made Encanto so popular. Jared Bush did say that there is anything concrete yet, but he believes that a push from fans of the first film could certainly convince Disney to make a second one. Bush took to Twitter and said that he's asked quite often if he's going to be working on a sequel to Encanto. He also said that there are some who wonder if there might even be a television series based on the movie. He then explained that making more content in that world has always been his dream.

However, he added that the "real deciders are the fans." That seems to indicate that nothing has been decided just yet when it comes to a sequel for the popular film. It also seemed to make it clear that if the people who saw their own family and friends in Encanto are willing to really push and ask Disney to create more content in that world, then he thinks there's a good chance something will come of it.

When it comes to those fans, there are certainly people who have shown just how much they loved Encanto in the real world. Whether it's talking about people shooting videos of them singing and dancing to the tunes that were made so popular by the flick, or even people who paid homage by doing things like recreating Encanto scenes in video games, there appears to be a loyal following. The question now, of course, is whether or not the following is strong enough to convince Bush to come back to the table with Disney and make a sequel.

Encanto is now streaming on Disney Plus.
