Elizabeth Olsen –who plays Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, in the MCU– says she does not miss playing the character. However, that does not mean she wouldn't return if Marvel Studios called.

After several supporting roles as Wanda, Olsen played the character in the Disney Plus limited series WandaVision. The show had Olsen's Wanda take over a small town to live her fantasies of settling down with Vision in a twisted parody of sitcoms. Olsen then played the antagonist in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness, corrupted by the Darkhold and nearly destroyed the multiverse. She sacrifices herself to destroy the Darkhold, although it is unclear whether or not she survived.

As a part of Variety's Actors on Actors series, Olsen sat down with The White Lotus actor Meghann Fahy. Fahy asked Olsen if she missed playing Wanda. "No, I don’t," Olsen replied. "I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her. And I’ve loved it. And I think the reason why I am not calling Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do. I think ‘WandaVision’ was a really surprising opportunity.” Olsen continued, “If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made. And I really am just trying to figure out how to load up other films and characters so it becomes less about the Marvel of it all.”

Scarlet Witch appearing a Kamar-Taj in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

It seems clear that Olsen would be satisfied if her last appearance as Scarlet Witch was in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness. However, Feige teased that Scarlet Witch may return in 2022. As mentioned before, it is unclear whether her character survived at the end of Doctor Strange 2. Additionally, with the multiverse saga that Marvel Studios is currently in, any character could appear in future films.

In the interview, Olsen did not say she would be against returning, so if Feige can find a project for her, she might return. Olsen has already suggested she has ideas for Scarlet With's next storyline, so even if she isn't calling Feige, perhaps the right story could entice her back to the MCU.
