The Elder Scrolls Online offers players countless armor sets from craftable sets to Trial sets to overworld sets and everything in between. However, some sets can only be acquired by participating in the game's extraneous game modes and activities such as excavating Antiquities, taking on Deadlands portals in Blackwood, and of course, participating in Cyrodiil PvP.

The Plaguebreak Armor Set in Elder Scrolls Online is one of these sets. It grants its wearer three powerful (if simple) buffs in addition to a full set bonus that is sure to tip the scales in combat. Getting this set isn't so simple, though, taking anywhere from five to a hundred attempts to acquire a full set.

Plaguebreak Set Bonuses

Elder Scrolls Online PvP Builds
  • Two Items Equipped: Adds 1487 Offensive Penetration
  • Three Items Equipped: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
  • Four Items Equipped: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
  • Full Set Bonus: Damage turns enemies into Plague Carriers, which deals significant damage over time for 10 seconds. If the Plague Carrier doesn't remove the debuff before the 10 seconds are up, they explode, infecting other enemies and dealing ramping damage based on the number of foes hit by the explosion. Scales off of Weapon or Spell Damage.

The Plaguebreak Set is considered by many PvP players to be one of the most powerful armor sets available for taking on the Imperial Province, especially when facing groups of enemies rather than in a 1v1 situation. The two, three, and four-item bonuses are useful, adding Offensive Penetration and Weapon and Spell Damage, but the set's strength comes from the full set bonus.

For equipping five pieces players gain the ability to turn enemies into Plague Carriers with every hit (as long as they aren't already a Plague Carrier). This debuff deals 1715 Disease Damage over the course of 10 seconds, but if they don't get rid of the debuff, something else happens when the time is up – they explode, infecting other enemies within 8 meters with the Plague Carrier debuff and dealing explosive Disease Damage that ramps up based on the number of enemies hit.

How To Get The Plaguebreak Set

The Plaguebreak Armor Set in Elder Scrolls Online can only be acquired by participating in PvP in Cyrodiil or in Battlegrounds. Pieces to the set drop exclusively from the Rewards for the Worthy crate given to players who earn 20,000 Alliance Points. The Rewards for the Worthy box can be earned multiple times in one day and is mailed to the player directly.

20,000 Alliance Points is nothing to sniff at - it takes 20,000 AP just to rank up to a Grade 2 Recruit. AP is earned simply by participating in objectives in PvP like taking fortifications, killing other players, and otherwise. They are also sometimes awarded as Daily Rewards, though infrequently. One problem with this system is that the rewards contained in each box are totally random, so it may take anywhere from a handful of attempts to hundreds of attempts to complete one of these sets. Luckily, ESO PvP in 2022 is far, far more engaging than it was on release.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
