Elden Ring's extensive arsenal of weapons receives a further boost to its variety with different Ashes of War found throughout the Lands Between. Weapon skills, referred to by FromSoft as "Ashes of War," introduce a new feature that can be used to add powerful attacks to weapons. Almost all weapons come equipped with an Ash of War. While some are unique and irreplaceable, players can also obtain the Whetblade to apply Ashes of War to armaments.

With the help of affinities and Ashes of War, players can tailor a weapon to their playstyle and preferences. Cragblade is one such Ash of War that tremendously benefits Strength-scaling armaments by providing them with Heavy affinity, increased physical damage, and improved stance damage. With the right setup and build, Cragblade can transform a weapon into a stance-breaking machine. Here's how you can obtain the powerful Ash of War: Cragblade in Elden Ring.

Cragblade Location in Elden Ring

Elden Ring Cragblade Location

Cragblade is located in the southern region of Caelid. To claim this Ash of War, players will need to head all the way down to the Impassable Greatbridge site of grace, located next to the Redmane Castle. Players who have fought Starscourge Radahn might already have activated this grace site. From the Impassable Greatbridge, head west to find a scarab on a small cliff. Destroy this scarab to claim the Ash of War: Cragblade.

However, this is easier said than done, as making it to Caelid is a challenge on its own. One of the simplest and safest ways to get to the Cragblade skill is by taking the direct path from Limgrave to Caelid. Go east from Summonwater Village or up the spirit springs located north of the Third Church of Marika to find the path to Caelid.

After entering Caelid, look for the Rotview Balcony site of grace, which is located near the Smoldering Church where Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater, invades for the first time. Follow the southern path from Rotview Balcony until you encounter the Decaying Ekzykes, a massive rotted dragon. Players can choose to defeat it for one of the most potent Dragon Communion incantations or simply run east to bypass it.

A short distance ahead, you will find a nomadic merchant. Continue along the southeast path to reach the Impassable Greatbridge. The scarab containing Ash of War: Cragblade is west of the Impassable Greatbridge.

How to Use Ash of War: Cragblade in Elden Ring

Like with all Ashes of War, players will first need to get their hands on the Whetblade found at the Gatefront Ruins of Limgrave. The Whetblade allows players to apply Ashes of War to their armaments. Cragblade is a versatile Ash of War that can be applied to any melee armament with a replaceable skill.

Upon activating the Cragblade skill, the Tarnished drives their weapon into the ground, infusing it with the power of gravity to increase physical and stance damage. This skill has a meager FP cost of 16, and the buff lasts for a minute. Players won't have to invest any points in Mind to build around the Cragblade skill.

Cragblade works best with weapons that deal substantial amounts of poise damage, such as Greatswords, Colossal Weapons, Giant Hammer, and so on. It used to increase stance damage by 20%, but FromSoft had to halve it, as players were abusing the extra stance damage from Cragblade to breeze through bosses. Regardless, it remains a powerful Ash of War, and nobody should underestimate it.
