Elden Ring features quite a few mechanics for players to master. Those that are jumping into the adventure are likely overwhelmed by the combat, which is definitely quite a bit harder than most other adventure games and RPGs. It has quite the learning curve, and it can take players a while to truly understand the combat mechanics and how to best attack certain foes. Because of this, and all the dangers that are lurking in the Lands Between, it's easy to understand why many players are so fixated on surviving that they miss out on some of the other useful mechanics that the game has to offer.

A great example is Elden Ring's robust crafting system, which has quite a few items for players to discover and craft, which can help them immensely in their journey. Once players find the applicable recipe book, they'll be able to piece together items that can be used as weapons, buff their stats, and help them withstand certain bosses and attacks better. There are a lot of crafting materials for players to collect too, with the Arteria Leaf being one of the most useful and exceedingly hard to find. Here's all players need to know about the Arteria Leaf, where it's found, and what it's used for.

Where To Find Arteria Leaf

Elden Ring Arteria Leaf Where

There are quite a few Arteria Leaf hidden around the Lands Between (approximately 30+ from a variety of sources). These blood-red plants have thick leaves in bundles of four, with white veins spreading throughout them. Players can find them on corpses or even lying on the ground. Some are in secret areas or found by jumping to certain platforms or finding hidden passageways. Even the game remarks that the Arteria Leaf is exceedingly rare, helping players to understand that this particular plant is in scarce supply compared to the other more common crafting materials players pick up during their adventure.

Although many of the Arteria Leaf in the game are found through exploration, there is one particular Merchant that sells a bundle of the useful materials. Players will have to travel all the way to the bottom-left portion of the Weeping Penninsula, which is located in the far Southeast part of Limgrave. It's a bit of a journey from the starting area, but players will want to make their way to this particular Isolated Merchant at some point as they also sell the Lantern, which is especially useful for navigating dark areas. The Merchant sells five Arteria Leaf for 1000 Runes each.

There is a way to farm for the item, but players will need to deal with a particularly powerful enemy to do it. Just West of the Giant's Gravepost Site of Grace in the Mountaintops of the Giants is a Fuzzy Troll that has a 30 percent chance to drop an Arteria Leaf when defeated. Players that want to collect as many of these rare crafting items as possible can make their way to the area and continuously fight the imposing troll, resetting at the Site of Grace to continuously repspawn it.

What Are Arteria Leaf Used For

Arteria Leaf are incredibly useful in boosting a player's attack power, in addition to offering other benefits. There are three separate recipes that make use of the Arteria Leaf and each one of them provides the player with powerful benefits that can help turn the tide of battle, which is why the materials are so hard to come by. Unfortunately, Arteria Leaf are absolutely worthless (although they do sell for 100 Runes each) unless players are capable of using them in crafting recipes. All three of the recipes that use Arteria Leaf require specific cookbooks to unlock, meaning players will need to find and snag all three if they want to be able to use Arteria Leaf to their full potential.

Here's a look at each recipe, where players can find the applicable recipe book, and what they do.

Bloodboil Aromatic

Elden Ring Bloodboil Aromatic

What It Does: The Bloodboil Aromatic is a crafted consumable that will use a player's FP (21 FP to be exact) to cause them to enter a state of Fervor. This state greatly boosts a player's damage output with physical weapons and skills (increasing it by 30 percent) but will simultaneously cause them to take more damage from all sources (-25 percent damage negation). The effects last for 60 seconds.

How To Craft It: To make a Bloodboil Aromatic, players will need to combine:

  • 2 x Altus Bloom
  • 1 x Arteria Leaf
  • 1 x Budding Cave Moss
  • 1 x Land Octopus Ovary

How To Unlock Crafting: To be able to craft the Bloodboil Aromatic, players will need to get their hands on the Perfumer's Cookbook [2], which is located on a corpse that is seated within a chair atop a roof of the Shaded Castle. The map below shows the approximate location.

Uplifting Aromatic

Exalted Flesh

Elden Ring Exalted Flesh

What It Does: The Exalted Flesh is perhaps the most useful of all the items that require an Arteria Leaf, especially for players who favor physical attacks over magic. When players consume an Exalted Flesh, they will gain a 20 percent Physical Attack boost for 30 seconds.

How To Craft It: The Exalted Flesh is made by combining these items:

  • 1 x Arteria Leaf
  • 1 x Hefty Beast Bone
  • 1 x Lump Of Flesh
  • 5 x Rowa Fruit

How To Unlock Crafting: To be able to craft Exalted Flesh, players need to find and obtain Armorer's Cookbook [3]. Thankfully, it's rather easy to find, as players simply need to purchase it from a Nomadic Merchant for 2000 Runes. The merchant in question can be found in Eastern Limgrave, just off a roadway that leads to Fort Haight. The map below shows where the Nomadic Merchant makes his camp.
