The Visage Shield is one of the most powerful Greatshields in Elden Ring, and luckily it can be acquired fairly early in the game. This shield resembles one of the Fire Giants in appearance, hearkening back to the days when Queen Marika fought against the Giants long before the Shattering of the Elden Ring.

The shield's horrific appearance shows enemies how imposing the Fire Giants used to be. This is also evident through the use of the shield itself, because it essentially makes the Tarnished a sheer wall that blocks all damage. However, it should only be used by these strongest of players who can actually withstand its weight. Here's how players can get their hands on it.

Where To Find The Visage Shield

Caelem Ruins With Enemies

The Tarnished will find the Visage Shield relatively early on in the game. On their way to fight Starscourge Radahn in Caelid, the player may travel along the main road. Along this route they may many fascinating places to visit including the Caelem Ruins. These ruins will be one of the first locations that the Tarnished can access along the main road of Caelid, although they will want to take caution as the area is surrounded by Flame Chariots and Putrid Corpses.

Swamp-of-Aeonia

The Flame Chariots are formidable foes similar to the Visage Shield; however they are weakest at their back and will go down after a few well-placed hits. Players will want to equip some fire-resistant armor to make sure they make it through this area without burns.

Mad Pumpkin Head Duo Strategies

Pumpkin Head Holding A Club

Inside the Caelem Ruins, there will be a set of stairs that will lead down to a large room containing two Mad Pumpkin Head enemies. The player will need to defeat both of these enemies to access the chest containing the Visage Shield.

There are a number of ways to take care of these enemies. Thankfully, they shouldn't be too much of a challenge for players even in the early game, as long as they use the right summons and tactics. The best strategy for taking these guys down is using a strong summon to tank damage and keep one of the pumpkin heads occupied, while the player focuses on the other.

All the Mad Pumpkin Heads' attacks can be avoided by rolling to either side or backwards. Additionally, their attacks are laboriously slow, which means that they will be very well telegraphed for the player. The main issue with damaging Pumpkin Head is that his helmet will negate damage, meaning that it will be hard to damage him from the front. Therefore, as long as the player attacks from behind, they should be fine.

Once the Mad Pumpkin Head Duo is defeated, the player will be able to go into the next room to open the chest inside, where they will receive the Visage Shield.
