The Tombsward Catacombs is an optional dungeon in Elden Ring that is just north of the Minor Erdtree in Weeping Peninsula. This dungeon plays out like many of the other Catacombs, with players using a lever to unlock a door and gain access to a boss. However, the lever in Elden Ring's Tombsward Catacombs is quite well hidden, and this guide is here to help fans track it down.

Elden Ring: Tombsward Catacombs Lever Location

The first step toward locating the Tombsward Catacombs lever is to reach its flame-spitting pillar. This should not prove to be extremely difficult, as the dungeon is very linear in its design, and players should run into the column simply by following the path. That said, Elden Ring fans that are struggling to reach the relevant pillar can see the route demonstrated in the video that is below.

Upon arriving at the pillar, players should wait for it to stop shooting fire and then use sprint in Elden Ring to run toward it, rolling into the alcove on the right side before the onslaught resumes. Fans should then wait for another break in the flames, run to a side of the column that is not deadly, and hit it with an attack. This action will cause the pillar to lower, and fans should jump on top and ride it to the platform that is above them.

All that is left to do now is to hop onto the aforementioned platform and follow the path to the lever. After interacting with the device, players can fall down to the room that below them and ascend the stairs ahead. This will put fans on the path back to the beginning of the Tombsward Catacombs, and they may want to stop by the Site of Grace before they take on the boss.

Elden Ring: Tombsward Catacombs Boss and Rewards

The boss at the end of the Tombsward Catacombs is the Cemetery Shade, and there are many viable strategies for taking it down. Perhaps the easiest option is to shoot the enemy from a distance, though it is not very difficult to defeat the Cemetery Shade with dodges and melee attacks. Regardless of how a player ultimately tackles this boss, they will receive 2,200 Runes and Lhutel the Headless, a legendary Spirit Ash in Elden Ring, once it has been slain.

Elden Ring: Tombsward Catacombs Stonesword Key Loot

For those players that are wondering if they should use one of their Stonesword Keys in Elden Ring to dissipate the barrier near the beginning of the Tombsward Catacombs, the loot inside the room is the Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [9]. This item gives fans the ability to craft Rancor Pots, which can be thrown to spawn vengeful spirits.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
