Elden Ring is by far one of the most popular games this year. It is one of the best-selling titles to release so far in 2022 and continues to keep going strong. Elden Ring has already made its mark in gaming history and will be remembered as one of the premier action-RPGs to play for years to come.

Tabletop RPGs are also in demand at the moment. Games such as Dungeons & Dragons have been seeing a lot of play as of late, and have been featured in mainstream TV shows such as Stranger Things. This is leading to a number of video games receiving their own tabletop RPGs, as players look to delve deeper into their favorite franchises.

Publishing company Kadokawa has announced that a tabletop RPG book based off of Elden Ring is on the way. The book will be released for Japan in early Spring 2023, with there has being no word on whether the tabletop RPG will be make its way over to the West. There is also no mention on how much it will cost, though that information will likely be revealed as the release date gets closer.

Elden Ring Tabletop 2

The Elden Ring adaptation will be handled by Group SNE, and will be produced by Hironori Katou, the same team that created the Dark Souls tabletop RPG. The book will feature a number of rules as well as data for items, monsters, spells, and more. It will be interesting to see FromSoftware's game transformed for the table and how it will play out. Elden Ring's character customization and open world already give players a number of possibilities, and should translate well into a tabletop RPG.

Elden Ring is not the only video game to be adapted into a tabletop RPG. A Redditor known as ladygrey94 created a tabletop role playing system for Final Fantasy 14 loosely based off of the 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons that allows gamers to tell stories in the world of the MMORPG. The system was built to be easy to use, with it being designed to allow flexibility and customization while requiring minimal die rolling. As characters gain levels, they gain points that allow them to purchase Attributes and Skills, and also gain HP, MP, and roll bonuses. Players can also increase their Resilience Rating, which can be compared to the Armor Class in D&D, with armor and abilities. The system only requires a D20 to resolve things, as combat actions deal set amounts of damage. It is a unique approach to Final Fantasy 14 and is simple enough for tabletop newcomers to try their hand at such a game.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
