Elden Ring is filled with many fearsome bosses. In addition to story encounters, fans will come across many optional bosses in caves, dungeons, or simply roaming around in the open world. From Software had earlier confirmed that Elden Ring will have tough optional bosses hidden throughout The Lands Between, and many users have started using unique strategies to take them down.

Margit is the first major boss of Elden Ring, but players are free to explore a large chunk of the open world and take on its many challenges before coming back to this fight. It’s a tough encounter and players will probably have to level up a few times and also use Spirit summoning to defeat him. While exploring at night, users may encounter optional bosses known as Night's Cavalry. These bosses can be found at several locations throughout the game and players cannot summon Spirit ashes in this encounter. It can be a challenging fight, but players can also use a clever tactic to beat this boss.

User YMabDaroganCont has shared a clip of using such a tactic to defeat Night’s Cavalry in Elden Ring. The player first tries using various magic spells but they miss the target or barely do any damage. It can be difficult to keep track of the surroundings while fighting a boss on horseback, and YMabDaroganCont falls off a bridge, only to be saved by the top surface of the archway. Night’s Cavalry attempts to follow the player and simply jumps off the bridge to their death, netting the user 2400 Runes.

The comments section is filled with other players making fun of the AI, with TomAmaroq stating that the same incident happened in their encounter with Night’s Cavalry. It seems like players can also keep running up the hill, forcing the boss to hit poison traps and defeat them without landing a single blow. One user compared them to the Nazgul from The Lord of the Rings, and players can even get their armor from a boss encounter later on in the game.

Making the boss go out of bounds to its death is a classic strategy used by many Dark Souls speedrunners, and it’s hilarious to see it still being viable. Elden Ring is an extremely versatile game and it allows players to use many strategies, without utilizing exploits, to defeat the bosses. Magic can be extremely overpowered in Elden Ring and users should consider respeccing if they are facing difficulty as a melee character.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
