Much of the appeal of an upcoming role-playing game lies in what the plot has to offer, and Elden Ring is no exception. This time, the very own developers are eager in reminding the fanbase to be careful in not letting spoilers go wild and potentially ruin the first-time experience of the game for other players.Elden Ring is one of the most awaited releases of this year, being the latest project of the famed Hidetaka Miyazaki. FromSoftware's upcoming title treads the path of the successful Souls series, featuring challenging combat, an open-world environment, and a dark fantasy theme, this time with the collaboration of well-known novelist George R.R. Martin.RELATED: Elden Ring Pre-Load Now Available on Xbox, Even If You Don't Own the GameWith only a few days left until Elden Ring's launch, the official Twitter page of the game has posted a serious reminder not to spoil anything regarding the Lands Between or the story itself. While all that fuss might seem a bit excessive to a reader unaccustomed with the Souls-like community, spoilers are indeed a serious problem for a game genre that prides itself on having cryptic, enigmatic lore and storytelling. Cautionary measures must be taken: after all, we are talking about a game so hyped that fans are genuinely worried about dying before it comes out.

All of this comes at a time when some minor Elden Ring spoilers have already made their way to the web, from the intro cinematic to several screenshots of game's areas meant to be discovered by playing, not by casually surfing the net. As such, great caution is of course advised to all those interested in experiencing the title as it should be, especially when browsing YouTube.

George R.R. Martin's participation in Elden Ring's development has certainly done much in hyping the story and setting of the upcoming release, much more than other Souls-likes, typically focused more on combat mechanics than elaborate story. This very element, that of quality storytelling, might well be the trump card that will put Elden Ring above its competitors and predecessors alike.

Fans will soon see for themselves if such hype has been justified, and if the story deserved such spoiler-avoiding efforts. In the meantime, a new Elden Ring gameplay trailer has been released, introducing both the world and the game's mechanics.

Elden Ring launches February 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
