Building on the success of the latest entry into the Soulslike genre, FromSoftware is gearing up to release the long-awaited Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC on June 21. The expansion is set to take players beyond the Lands Between, into a new world exploring the story of the mysterious Miquella. As players prepare to head to this new location, some are taking the opportunity to redesign their characters.

As fans await the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC a new theory related to the origin of Elden Ring's map has the community divided.

A Reddit user going by the name of HevsCreations has posted their custom Elden Ring character, which resembles Prince Charming from the 2004 movie Shrek 2. In the post, fans can see that Charming’s look has been put together using the Aristocat Garb, Guardian Braces, and the Traveling Maiden Boots to give the character a regal feel. Along with the images uploaded to the r/Elden Ring subreddit, HevsCreations has posted a YouTube tutorial showing how Prince Charming was created.

At the time of writing, the post has gained 3.4k upvotes from the community. Many fans are commenting on the accuracy of the character along with complimenting the choice of clothing for the Prince. Some replies point out that the character reminds them of Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones, albeit without his sword and armor. Even with such different views on who the character looks like, the consensus from fans is that it is a well-thought-out design.

Prince Charming isn’t the only character from pop culture that has made his way into the Lands Between. Players have been having fun creating some of their favorite heroes in FromSoftware’s epic title thanks to the rich tools on offer. One gamer seemingly recreated the actor Tom Cruise in Elden Ring after tinkering with the various options.

The popularity of Elden Ring has remained consistent in the two years it has been on the market. With the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion set to release on June 21, fans are heading back to the Lands Between to refamiliarize themselves with the game. To this end, it is worth noting that the PC specs for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree have been updated ahead of the expansion’s release later in June.
