What Are Scadutree Fragments?

In order to help players with the unforgiving difficulty of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, FromSoftware has added a new mechanic in the form of Scadutree Fragments. Scadutree Fragments are items that players can collect in the overworld to improve both their offensive and defensive capabilities. Each Scadutree increases both the overall attack power as well as the defensive stats of a character by a specific percentage. It is totally optional to get the Scadutree Fragments in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, so if players want to skip it that will make navigating the Land of Shadows a bit more difficult for them.

How Many Scadutree Fragments Are Required For Each Upgrade?

The first upgrade requires one Scadutree Fragment, while the subsequent eight upgrades require two each. From level 10 onwards players will need three Scadutree Fragments for the upgrade. Additionally, the buff players get with each upgrade also varies. While initially the Scadutree Fragment upgrades were spread out evenly, after a balancing patch the Scadutree Fragments gave players more buffs in the beginning and then diminishing returns as players progressed further.

As far as finding Scadutree Fragments are concerned, there are a total of 50 of them and they can be found scattered all across the world. Unlike some of the other more crucial items in the game, Scadutree Fragments are a bit more difficult to find. They are scattered across the world in quite unusual locations which don't stand out as such. This is in contrast to the Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears which can be found in more pivotal locations in the Lands Between. Additionally, it is important to note that there are no redundant Scadutree Fragments. Players would recall that there are redundant Golden Seeds in the base game, but that is not the case for Scadutree Fragments. Therefore, it can be a bit tricky to backtrack and find one which has been missed. A good idea is to grab all the Scadutree Fragments in a particular area before moving to the next one, as it will ensure that players don't miss out on any.
