There are many things about Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree that excite the fans. There are new weapons, new armor, and new areas. However, perhaps most importantly, there are new bosses to rage at and kill after 50 attempts. The greatest challenge is not ruining your controller along the way.

Most bosses in Elden Ring drops a Remembrance after they die. Metyr, an optional boss in the DLC, drops one called the Remembrance of the Mother of Fingers which can be exchanged for either a Colossal Weapon or a Staff. The question is, where do you do it, and which one should you choose?

Where to Use Remembrance of the Mother of Fingers in Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring - Remembrance of the Mother of Fingers

Using a Remembrance is a very simple and easy process in Elden Ring. Simply fast travel to the Roundtable, and go to Finger Reader Enia. She is located on a bench in the first room to your right when you spawn into the room.

When talking to her, players will encounter the option to buy the armor of champions, and exchange the Remembrance for one of two rewards. In the case of Metyr, the Mother of Fingers, these rewards are as follows:

  • The Gazing Finger: A Colossal Weapon that scales with STR and INT
  • Staff of the Great Beyond: A staff that can cast both sorceries and incantations, and scales with both INT and FAI.

Which Option to Choose for Remembrance of the Mother of Fingers

The Gazing Finger and the Staff of the Beyond are both fantastic options for the right builds. If you're running with a heavily STR focused build, it might seem obvious to choose the Gazing Finger. However, remember that it has a requirement of 20 INT and 14 FAI as well. If you have the means to compensate for the extra requirements, go for it. It's a great fit for a strength focused onga bonga build that can deal good magic damage as well.

On the other hand, the Staff of the Beyond is the dream of an all-rounder mage. No longer shall these reclusive wizards have to swap between seals and staffs. Now, they can freely use both incantations and sorceries with a single weapon. While the concept of the weapon isn't revolutionary, it caters to a certain kind of audience, and it caters to them well. If you want to experience the full depth of the magic system that Elden Ring offers, this staff might be the best thing to ever occur.

The Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear has a unique skill that's fairly similar to Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear; here's where to get it in Shadow Of The Erdtree.

Gazing Finger

The head of Metyr, the finger-mother, wielded as a weapon without modification. From within the center of the fingerprint that wrinkles the creature's foremost protrusion, a tiny wart-like eye gazes vacantly into the beyond.

The Gazing Finger is a Colossal Weapon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree that deals 133 Physical and 86 Magic damage. It can be upgraded using Somber Smithing Stones to +10, and weighs 15.0. The weapon looks like a massive finger, making it the second weapon in the game that looks like the digit of a giant. Unfortunately, the weapon cannot be buffed with spells or consumables.

Its Ash of War is called Kowtower's Resentment, which costs 24 FP to use and cannot be followed up with another attack. The attack can be charged up for a large AoE, though it doesn't go very far compared to other weapons like the Sacred Relic Sword. During the attack, the player slams down the weapon directly infront of them, and cause a small delayed explosion. If charged up, this explosion is much bigger than normal.

Staff of the Great Beyond

Staff fashioned from the tail-fingers of Metyr, the Mother of Fingers, and the microcosm raised aloft over the crux they form. Catalyst for casting both sorceries and incantations. The Mother received signs from the Greater Will from the beyond of the microcosm. Despite being broken and abandoned, she kept waiting for another message to come.

The Staff of the Great Beyond is a Glintstone staff that is extremely unique. It is the only staff in the entire game that can be used as a catalyst for both sorceries and incantations. It doesn't have any Ash of War, and it cannot be infused with one either.

This staff can be upgraded using Somber Smithing Stones to +10, and it weighs 2.5. It is one of the most fun weapons in the game at the moment because of its sheer versatility. Being able to cast holy spells alongside fireballs might not sound like the best thing ever, but it is certainly a lot of fun.
