Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC further expands the gameplay possibilities by introducing a host of new weapons, spells, and talismans. One such talisman is the Verdigris Discus , which raises defenses with higher equipment loads. Picking the right talisman for your build can further enhance its effectiveness, and if you particularly enjoy the high poise gained from wearing heavy armor, you’ll want to give the Verdigris Discus a shot.

While the talisman itself is located in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, which is a late game location, you can, however, use a teleportation strategy to acquire this talisman in the mid-game. The following guide will help you collect the talisman using the teleportation strategy, allowing you to enjoy the effects of the talisman relatively early in the DLC.

Teleporting To Ancient Ruins Of Rauh To Acquire The Verdigris Talisman

Teleporting to the Ancient Ruins of Rauh begins with finding an Imbued Swordsword Key, and then, discovering the Belfrey on Scadu Altus.

If you don’t already have an Imbued Swordsword key in your inventory, you can find one in Castle Ensis. The key is located in a small tower near the Castle-Lord’s Chamber Site of Grace.

To reach the tower, head west from the Castle-Lord’s Chamber Site of Grace and take the small set of stairs down to reach an elevator. Use the elevator to descend to a level below and head all the way to the south. You’ll eventually enter a tower with a chest containing the Imbued Swordsword Key.

Having acquired the key, start your journey (refer to the video guide) from the Highroad Cross Site of Grace, which can be found when exiting Castle Ensis after defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, the main boss of this dungeon.

Ride a short distance to the west from the Highroad Cross Site of Grace to locate the Belfrey atop of a rock outcrop. After reaching the Belfrey, insert the Imbued Swordsword Key into the Imp Statue. Now, interact with the waygate to teleport to the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.

Teleporting to the Ancient Ruins of Rauh does not allow you to explore the rest of the region. The only way to explore this region fully is to arrive here from the Shadowkeep , which happens towards late-mid game.

Acquiring The Verdigris Discus Talisman

Once you’ve teleported to the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, refer to the image above to determine the direction you must head to find the Verdigris Talisman.

Generally, from the spawn point, you must travel in the northwestern direction, across the patch of waterbody, and through the rock arches to reach a maiden altar. The Verdigris Discus talisman is located near the foot of the altar.

Verdigris Discus Talisman Effects

Equipping the Verdigris Discus talisman provides a defensive stat boost based on your equipment load:

  • Heavy Load: When your character's equipment load exceeds 70% of their maximum equip load while equipping the Verdigris Discus talisman, you take 10% less damage.
  • Overload: If your equipment load exceeds 100% of your maximum equip load, you receive a whopping 20% damage reduction buff.

If you enjoy playing with a build that benefits from high poise, where you end up wearing heavy armor, pairing the build with the Verdigris Discus talisman can further enhance its efficacy.

On the other hand, if you like using heavy weapons that put you in the heavy load category, you can also use this talisman to boost your defenses, compensating for the lack of low armor protection.

Keep in mind, heavier equipment loads can also prove detrimental if you struggle to play with heavier builds, as they slow down your rolling speed considerably – a trade-off you'll want to consider when using this talisman!

The Verdigris Discus Talisman has no effect when your equipment load is medium or light.
