An Elden Ring player has found an Ash of War called The Poison Flower Blooms Twice in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which appears to be a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Easter egg as it closely resembles the Senpou Leaping Kicks combat skill. While there are a few things that are considered to be a throwback to Sekiro in the base game, this is one of the first instances of such a discovery being made in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree seems to be a delight for all the Easter egg hunters, as the DLC is filled with hidden walls, bridges, items, and a lot more. Players have been thoroughly going through each of the areas to find any hidden secrets, and for some, the outcome has turned out to be perilous as Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC's invisible walls are quite deceptive. Amid that, another interesting Easter egg has been discovered by a player.

In a new post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user anyfriend1 highlights a possible Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Easter egg in Shadow of the Erdtree. The Easter egg in question is in fact the Ash of War: The Poison Flower Blooms Twice which is seemingly inspired by the Senpou Leaping Kicks combat skill from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Both these attacks involve the character leaping high up in the air and coming down on the enemy with a kicking attack.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Sekiro Easter Egg Location

While the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice combat skill is visually pretty much the same, the Elden Ring Ash of War has an added benefit. If players hit an enemy who already has a poison or scarlet rot status effect, then it also triggers a massive explosion. In order to find the Ash of War in the game, players must head north from the Temple Town Ruins Site of Grace. The Ash of War can be obtained by killing a Teardrop Scarab and is usable on all melee armaments.

While there have been other Easter eggs in Elden Ring which are much more apparent, the references to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice have been quite subtle. For instance, the Ash of War: Bloody Slash is considered to be a throwback to Sekiro's Mortal Draw skill which is performed using the Mortal Blade. In fact, even the Overhead Stance Ash of War, which is associated with the Great Katana in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is being regarded as a reference to the Ichimonji skill in Sekiro, as they are visually quite similar as well.
