Spears in Elden Ring are great at closing the distance between enemies. Equipping spears with a thrusting Ash of War can further extend their range and effectiveness in combat. Great spears are akin to colossal weapons in the game, and they tend to have slower attack speeds but deal massive damage.

The Barbed Staff-Spear is a unique Great Spear added to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The spear also doubles as a staff, allowing you to deal holy damage to enemies. The guide below will help you discover the location of this spear and provide additional details on its statistics.

Greatstaff of Jori, elder inquisitor. The tip bristles with golden barbs symbolic of the inquisition's torture, allowing one to wield the staff as a greatspear. Attacks deal holy damage, and potency increases with faith.

The Barbed Staff-Spear features a unique skill called Jori’s Inquisition. You likely were on the receiving end of it during the Jori, Elder Inquisitor boss battle. This skill allows you to unleash an array of Golden Arcs that deal damage to enemies. The skill is chargeable, meaning holding down the button generates additional arcs. It costs only 4 FP to use, so feel free to spam it.

Unfortunately, the Barbed Staff-Spear cannot be infused with an Ash of War, but it can be upgraded to +10 using Somber Smithing Stones.
