The internet has been buzzing about Elden Ring, From Software's recently released RPG. Continuing the developer's longstanding reputation for bold enemy designs and brutal difficulty, Elden Ring is already one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time. That doesn't mean that it's flawless, though, as there have been some performance and network issues affecting it. Luckily, From Software is working to address both, though fixes for the latter will inconvenience some fans tomorrow.

Over on Twitter, the official Elden Ring account stated that Elden Rings' servers will be taken down tomorrow so that From Software can work on stability. Each platform will have slightly different maintenance times, with each block scheduled to take an hour before the issues will be resolved. Depending on where players are located, they may be dealing with the server downtime tonight.

Specifically, those using PST can expect to have outages today, while other regions will see servers go down tomorrow, March 1. Starting with Steam, fans can expect servers to be down from 8 to 9 PM PST tonight. Xbox users will have outages 7 PM to 8 PM PST, and PlayStation users 6 PM to 7 PM PST. Elden Rings' tweets have adjusted numbers for other time zones, so users may want to check and see when they'll be affected.

Co-op play is an important part of Souls games, and Elden Ring is a particularly interesting multiplayer playground thanks to its open-world structure. Whether it's to enlist help against a challenging boss, explore the world, or partake in PvP, being able to summon friends or random strangers to one's world is a defining part of the experience. In the grand scheme of things, though, an hour-long scheduled outage to help out with long-term stability is a solid trade.

Server problems have hardly been the most pressing issue, though. While they've definitely ruffled some feathers, Elden Rings' performance problems are the greater concern for many fans, being so severe that Elden Ring has mixed reviews on Steam despite boasting one of the highest Metacritic scores of all time. Closed environments aren't much of an issue, but even users on relatively powerful hardware have reported problems with the open-world sections.

With any luck, Elden Rings' problems will be solved quickly and smoothly. It's an early contender for Game of the Year, and its impact could even stretch beyond that. Performance issues just so happen to be dragging down its reputation, though.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
