FromSoftware games are known for their deep, rich lore and the secrets that hide therein. The density of each game's lore can be so rich that secrets are hidden for years or, at the very least, speculated on. Elden Ring is no different, with players still digging at the seams of its story to find clues to what's going on. One newly picked up detail is the location of Elden Ring's Mohgwyn Palace location and the source of the large pools of blood surrounding it.Twitter user renjingles is a Dark Souls 3 modder currently entranced with Elden Ring, as so many are. One of their recent Elden Ring posts pondered a revelation regarding Mohgwyn Palace. Mohgwyn Palace is the home of Mohg, Lord of Blood. What renjingles noticed is that Mohgwyn's Palace is located beneath another location on Elden Ring's map. That location is the battlefield where fellow demigod Radahn battles eternally.RELATED: Elden Ring: What It Looks Like Inside Miquella's EggAs for why that matters, Radahn's battlefield is where he personally fights against an endless war against all warriors that choose to fight. That's because Radahn is nothing more than a mindless physical force that knows nothing but battle, hoping for an honorable death at the hands of any that could defeat him. He's been fighting endlessly for decades, if not centuries. When Radahn defeats an enemy, he also devours their corpse, letting their blood stain the sands of Caelid beneath him.

The idea is that Mohg could be gathering the blood from the earth above him, from the victims of Radahn's madness, and using it for his mad rituals. There's certainly a lot of blood on the sands of the Radahn Festival grounds. But there's also a lot of blood surrounding Mohgwyn Palace. It definitely sounds like an idea FromSoftware would come up with but never officially confirm.

The only idea that's contradicting the possibility is the nature of Mohg and where he draws his power. Mohg is a powerful demigod in Elden Ring, a son of the goddess Marika, and is associated with a mysterious Outer God named the Formless Mother. There's lore within the game that hints Mohg draws blood directly from the Formless Mother. He can even turn into blood himself, as shown in the cutscene before his fight. Mohg is the Lord of Blood, though, and could likely find a use for any blood he finds.

This is just one more example of how FromSoftware's storytelling and world-building can often create threads seemingly by pure coincidence. It genuinely does not matter whether or not FromSoftware intended the connection between the Radahn Festival and the Mohgwyn temple. It fits with the world of Elden Ring and so it seems natural to embrace. The lore of Elden Ring will only build from here.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
