Many consider Elden Ring to be the most approachable From Software game. It’s filled with quality-of-life features that are perhaps not present in other open-world games, and it gives gamers way more tools to tackle its difficult bosses. Elden Ring players do not have to keep fighting the same boss, as they can spend hours exploring the world and take on its many optional challenges.

However, Elden Ring still follows similar design philosophies, and its endgame is filled with some of the most difficult bosses in any From Software game. It features all the elements fans love and hate about the Dark Souls series like areas filled with traps, pitch-black maze-like dungeons, and groups of deadly enemies that can hit from off-screen. Players will naturally get frustrated during some of these encounters, and unfortunately, one fan took out their anger on their PS5 controller.

Weebfromkonoha uploaded a picture on the Elden Ring subreddit of their controller broken in almost half. The title of the post appropriately states that Weebfromkonoha is done for the night, but the exact cause which prompted this action is unclear. Generally, players might expect a controller’s parts to fly off when it’s thrown or slammed, but this DualSense is completely broken. This Reddit post is filled with jokes featuring over 4500 comments as a lot of players are referring to the messages players leave in Elden Ring, while others are classifying this action as “Maidenless behavior.”

Darth-Panga states that it’s best to quit the game before the rage even starts and this helped them get through Returnal last year. Returnal is also known for being an extremely difficult game, and some users probably broke controllers during their playthroughs. Oonz1337 mentions that they spent hours on a boss without any luck, but came out victorious on their first try the next morning. ItzLucario also came close to breaking their controller after dying to the Tree Sentinel boss.

A DualSense controller costs $70, more than the price of the game itself. It comes with a few extra features that differentiate it from other controllers in the market, namely Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers. Both of these features consistently receive praise, but users have questioned the DualSense’s build quality. Sony had recently launched 3 new colors for the PS5 controller, and a report suggests that they are less likely to suffer from the quality issues that were present in the earlier versions.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
