There are a lot of interesting and useful Talismans to find in Elden Ring. These equippable items do a multitude of things like buff damage resistance, increase max equip load, or even enhance certain attacks. There are even some Talismans that are capable of increasing a player's chance of surviving an Instant Death attack. Some bosses and enemies are capable of decimating the Tarnished One's health bar in an instant but players who put points into Vitality will have a much better chance of withstanding these painful attacks.

Those looking for a quick fix when it comes to extra Vitality in Elden Ring can grab the Prince of Death's Pustule. This handy Talisman will reward players with a boost to their Vitality stat, making it easier to "tank" the hits that would otherwise instantly kill them. Thankfully, it's not too difficult to find, but it does stand behind an imposing boss. Here's how players can snag it.

Where Is The Prince Of Death's Postule In Elden Ring?

Elden Ring Pustule Map

To find the Prince of Death's Postule, players will first need to have access to the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle. From the spawn point, players can walk outside of the nearby door and turn immediately to the right. This will put them in a "corner" with a lifeless husk (and an item) perched over a large pit. By peeking over the edge, players should notice a "way down" the cliffside and into the imposing pit. There are some falls that appear to be "too far" but are actually safe if players land on them.

Once players arrive at the bottom of the castle's crypt, they can make their way past some large rats and through a small maze of walls until they spot a large open area. Here, players will be jumped by a mini-boss, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. Those who want the Golden Seed it drops will want to slay it, but anyone just interested in the Postule can run right past it and into the room beyond. The Postule is laying on a body next to the giant malformed face in the ground.

How To Defeat The Ulcerated Tree Spirit Mini Boss

Elden Ring Ulcerated Tree Spirit

Those that want to take on the Ulcerated Tree Spirit may have their hands full at a lower level. The "hidden boss" is downright painful, thanks to its massive size, array of sweeping attacks, and erratic movement. It's not recommended that those with lower health or a lack of armor try to "tank" the shots that this wriggling beast throws out. Even those will heavier constitutions will find themselves respawning after just a few hits.

It's difficult to pin down an exact rotation for the Ulcerated Tree Spirit thanks to its strange motions, so players will instead need to "look for the right opening" to attack. This is easier said than done thanks to the boss' imposing size and how difficult it can be to see the player through the thick vines hanging from its body. For this reason, it's recommended that players keep their distance and watch how the boss moves before engaging it. It has a series of punishing attacks at long range and can even spit fire, so players should give it a long leash at the start.

Ranged weapons can be useful but the Ulcerated Tree Spirit moves so quickly and erratically that it can sometimes be difficult to hit it. The best course of action is to keep distance, look for safe openings, and do quick damage before dipping back out of its range. Staying too close to the creature without knowing its telegraphs and attacks can be punishing.

What Does The Prince Of Death's Pustule Do?

Elden Ring Prince Of Deaths Postule

The Prince of Death's Pustule is a straightforward Talisman. It will take up one Talisman slot in exchange for an increase to Vitality. The Vitality stat is responsible for protecting the player from "Instant Death" attacks. For this reason, it can be a bit situational. Players may want to pocket the Talisman and use it only on certain bosses or enemies that have a penchant for "instantly killing foes." Unfortunately, the Prince of Death's Pustule doesn't offer anything else to the player, but the additional Vitality can mean the difference between respawning or clutching out a victory against Elden Ring's lineup of powerful bosses and enemies.
