Elden Ring is massive in scale, with tons of areas for players to explore across the expansive Lands Between. There are tons of locations, hidden dungeons, secret bosses, and a litany of NPCs to be discovered. Some of these characters are much harder to find than others, as they reside in hidden areas, strange locations, are gate-locked behind progression, or are simply off the beaten path. Miriel, Pastor of Vows, or "Pope Turtle" as he's affectionately known by the fanbase, is one such NPC.

Elden Ring: How to Get Gold Scarab Talisman (And What It Does)

The Gold Scarab Talisman is an incredibly useful item in Elden Ring, but fans can only find it in one location after a tough battle.

It's highly recommended that players find and speak to Miriel, Pastor of Vows as quickly as possible as the Pope Turtle is much more than a decoration in Elden Ring. Players that find specialized Prayerbooks and scrolls throughout their journey can return to this creature and give them to him, unlocking access to new spells and incantations. Here's where players will find Miriel, Pastor of Vows during their adventure.

Updated June 17, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: To get to Miriel, Pastor of Vows' location in Elden Ring, players have to take a bit of a winding route throughout eastern Liurnia until they reach the Church of Vows. The Turtle Pope location is in this Church of Vows, but getting to it is not quite as relaxed as Miriel's slow manner of speech. To help players figure out how to find the Elden Ring Turtle Pope location, this guide has been updated with a video walkthrough explaining how to get to Miriel and the Church of Vows starting from the Artist's Shack site of grace, on the eastern edge of Liurnia near the Carian Study Hall.

Where Is Miriel, Pastor of Vows (Pope Turtle) In Elden Ring?

Those that want to see the Turtle Pope early on will be happy to know that it's possible to visit him from the start of the game. However, the journey is pretty far for a low-leveled Tarnished and it's recommended that players at least have Torrent to make the walk a bit easier to manage. Miriel, Pastor of Vows is located in the Church of Vows, which is found in the Liurnia of the Lakes region, directly above the starting area of Limgrave . Normally, players would make their way through Stormveil Castle and the imposing Demi-God Godrick the Grafted before reaching Liurnia of the Lakes, but, thankfully, there is a way to skip Stormveil Castle entirely.

Once players have made it to Liurnia of the Lakes, they'll need to head up the Northeastern roadway. A good place to start is from the Lake-Face Cliffs Site of Grace and then head Northeast to take the roadway that winds up along the mountain. From the Site of Grace there is a cliffside that has some jutting tombstones below it that players can drop onto to reach the roadway.

The Church of Vows is a fairly good distance North from this Site of Grace, and is directly East of the massive Academy of Raya Lucaria, atop the cliffside. Players will know they're close to the church once they make it to the Artist's Shack Site of Grace. Past there, the Church of Vows sits atop a hillside in the distance.

Miriel, Pastor of Vows sits waiting in this location and there are no requirements to open his location or interact with him. As soon as players find him, they can speak with him.

Elden Ring Red Wolf Of Radagon Boss Guide Raya Lucaria

There is an alternative path to the Turtle Pope for those that are making their way through the Raya Lucaria Academy . After players have defeated the Red Wolf of Radagon boss, they will unlock the Debate Parlor Site of Grace. From there, they can continue through the academy, taking a path up to the right of the Courtyard and passed some large falling boulders.

Once they reach the top, they will find themselves in a room with an open doorway to the right that leads to a balcony. On this balcony is a Waygate that leads directly to the Church of Vows and the Pope Turtle.
