As the latest entry of extremely difficult RPGs set in a fantasy world, Elden Ring has not only proved incredibly popular with previous fans of FromSoftware's Soulsborne RPGs, the game has attracted new fans to the genre. As a fresh, new addition to the FromSoftware line-up, Elden Ring has also gained interest from newcomers due to the involvement of fantasy author George R.R. Martin, who helped with the game's world building.

Complete with new bosses, horse riding mechanics, and a new story for players to explore, Elden Ring still has many of the tropes and mechanics a Soulsborne fan would be used to, such as a character creator, different builds, and difficult combat that leads to multiple, sometimes infuriating deaths. While it's more likely that a player will die to a boss, enemy, or some kind of trap, falling can also be one of the many ways a Tarnished can meet their unfortunate end. With some areas that can result in instant death should a player fall too far, watching a character's feet can be as important as watching their surroundings in Elden Ring.

One player, known to Reddit as u/PapaOogie, found themselves falling to their death after trying to descend a cliff jumping from branch to branch. However, moments before they meet their fate, the player is summoned to another's world to help them defeat a boss. This is one of the few ways Elden Ring players are given multiplayer elements, and though a player can be summoned to help another defeat a boss, players can also invade the worlds of others.

After being summoned to another player's world, u/PapaOogie is saved from falling to their death, leaving their feet planted firmly on the ground, only to be immediately informed that the player who summoned them has died, therefore u/PapaOogie is forced back to their own game. Once returning to their original game, the Elden Ring player finds themselves again atop a cliff, with their toes just over the edge.

With nowhere else to go, the Elden Ring player falls from the cliff, resulting in the death by fall damage that they would've experienced moments before. As the Reddit comments describe, the video is quite the "rollercoaster of emotions," leaving viewers thinking the player is safe one minute, and doomed the next. Elden Ring's limited multiplayer elements have created a few interesting moments like this one, like creepy PvP invasion experiences and hilarious messages left in parts of the game's world.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
