An Elden Ring player experienced a bug that caused their character to fall at an accelerated rate during a platforming section of the game. It has been nearly a year since Elden Ring took the gaming world by storm, and players are still exploring the massive open world created by FromSoftware.

Elden Ring was released to very high critical acclaim by fans and reviewers and broke records for winning the most GOTY awards. The success of Elden Ring is surprising considering the learning curve present in most FromSoftware games and has influenced the industry to create content that challenges the player to figure out game mechanics without holding their hand through the game. However, the game is not without its flaws and launched with performance issues. There are also glitches in Elden Ring that have caused entertaining and frustrating deaths to players.

This video posted online to Reddit highlights one of these entertaining yet frustrating deaths. In the video uploaded by knightrustedarmor, the player can be seen attempting to traverse through one of the platforming sections spread throughout Elden Ring. As the player begins to fall onto the multiple platforms below them, their character instead falls at a ridiculous speed and is eventually killed from the fall damage.

The original poster of the hilarious clip captions the post with a joke that they forgot they had equipped their particle accelerator tear, and several other users took to the replies to join in. One user commented on the inconsistency of slopes and how they can appear safe to traverse, but as soon as they start sliding down them, their character breaks the sound barrier falling to their death. Several other users replied to this post with their unfortunate experiences with glitchy fall damage in Elden Ring as well.

Elden Ring is certainly a timeless game that fans are continuing to enjoy over a year after its release. Still, there are some technical issues present in the game that FromSoftware still has yet to address, but it is hardly a deterrent for fans of the game. Some fans would even argue that these glitches and wonky deaths add to the enjoyment of the game. Hopefully, FromSoftware will continue to support the game with patches that address more of these glitches, and they will be less common in the potential expansion rumored for Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
