An Elden Ring fan recently came across a weapon they had never seen before despite having a total playtime of over 800 hours. Elden Ring allows players to approach combat encounters in a variety of ways, as users have access to a ton of weapons and spells to deal with its many enemies.

Due to the sheer size of Elden Ring, it may be difficult for fans to see everything in one playthrough. As a result, some users are still coming across new elements even though they have played Elden Ring for hundreds of hours. For example, one gamer made an interesting discovery about Elden Ring’s Walking Mausoleums after 1,000 hours of playtime, and it’s possible to find other such instances online. Now, one Elden Ring fan found a weapon they had never seen before, even though they had played the game for over 800 hours.

A user named Expert_Perception_72 has made a new post on Reddit with an image of this weapon, as they claim to have seen Grossmesser for the first time in Elden Ring. The user mentions that they have played Elden Ring for over 800 hours since its release last year, but they never managed to collect this weapon during this time frame. Expert_Perception_72 also makes a note about the drop rates in Elden Ring and other FromSoftware titles, stating that they have been ridiculous since the release of Dark Souls 3.

It looks like Expert_Perception_72 isn’t alone, as a number of users in the comments section also claim to have never seen a Grossmesser before in Elden Ring. One player asks about the mob that drops it, prompting Expert_Perception_72 to confirm that they got it from a skeleton inside one of Elden Ring’s catacombs. Another user mentioned getting it on their last playthrough, before stating that it was useful up to the middle portion of the game.

It looks like one fan wants to dual-wield this weapon, while some other users also have had a discussion on drop rates and rare weapons in Elden Ring. One player claims to have gotten the Grossmesser after grinding for four hours, while another mentions that they just got Noble's Slender Sword in Elden Ring despite having completed over 10 playthroughs. The rest of the comments feature users sharing their experiences with the Grossmesser weapon, as it looks like many players are fans of its move-set and design.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
