Elden Ring has been hotly anticipated since the game’s announcement at E3 2019, and now that the game has been released, players have sharing their experiences with it so far. This has resulted in a plethora of clips being released online of players interacting with the game, and some of the unfortunate, albeit quite humorous, circumstances they’ve encountered.

Written in collaboration with A Song of Fire and Ice/Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, Elden Ring puts players in the role of the Tarnished, exiled beings brought back to life in order to search for the shards of the Elden Ring, an ancient artifact that holds great power over the world. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki discussed in length about how Martin’s work impacted the game, and how he may be shocked by how FromSoftware utilized his new characters for Elden Ring.

The main attraction of any FromSoft game has always been its gameplay, and Elden Ring is no exception. Following a similar gameplay formula to other games in FromSoft’s library like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring continues the developer’s tradition of gameplay having an exceptionally high difficulty, forcing players to adjust to the learning curve as they play. While many players have managed to overcome several obstacles that the game has thrown their way, there are still times when the unexpected can happen.

In a clip posted to Reddit’s r/Eldenring, user roru2164 showcased their encounter with one of the many giant crows that appear throughout the world. While exploring, the player found a hidden message from another player, one of the many multiplayer elements in Elden Ring, that tells them that the flying enemy is in the area. However, upon immediately reading the message, the aforementioned bird appeared from seemingly out of nowhere and attacked the player.

The clip is downright hilarious, with the user’s funny edits really illustrating how frustrating playing a FromSoft game can be when one's not prepared for the unexpected. Not only that, but the clip also displays how chaotic Elden Ring can get, and why that stands out as most of the fun for many players.

So far, reviews for Elden Ring have described the game as an overall vast improvement of the FormSoft formula. While players may find themselves in rough circumstances, it’s hard not to find joy in the chaos of difficult games.

Elden Ring is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
