One fan recreated the Elden Ring trailer in a "demake" style, making it look like it would be released on the PS1.
It seems like there's quite a demand for "demaking," which is a process by which talented 3D artists and creators imagine what a game would look like were it to be released on more retro consoles. Another piece of Elden Ring art shows what the game might look like if it was released on even older machines. User u/pixelianska on Reddit showed off their design of the game's cover art with a pixel style. There has been clear effort put into the design of this art, as it gives a genuine feel that this game could have been released some time ago, with a 32-bit style many are sure to find nostalgic.
In the comments of u/pixelianska's Reddit post, many were praising the pixel Elden Ring for how cool it was. One user said "this is amazing! Perfect wallpaper for my phone," while another stated that u/pixelianska should have made the PC icon for Elden Ring. There was also one comment which compared the pixel art to that of Noita, a roguelite with procedurally generated pixel environments.
While many seem excited about the idea of an Elden Ring "demake," and the concept in general for many games, it's unlikely that "demakes" are going to become as widespread as remakes are in the modern gaming world. However, as with many things, if there's enough of a demand for something, it's likely that a studio could consider the idea.
