Elden Ring continues to captivate players thanks to its massive world size, enthralling story, and immense depth. There are so many things to discover in From Software's latest release and it seems that players are still finding new items and abilities well after the game was released. There is much to be done in the Lands Between and there are even an array of hidden items, bosses, and techs that will only spawn under certain conditions or in particular areas.

Those that use Polearms and Twin Blades should be excited to know there is a particular Ash of War for their chosen weapon, but many may have missed it if they weren't patrolling in a specific area of Elden Ring's expansive map. Here's a look at how players can find the Phantom Slash Ash of War and what exactly it does.

Where To Find The Phantom Slash Ash Of War

Elden Ring Night's Cav Ash War Location

Those that want to get their hands on the Phantom Slash Ash of War will first need to make it to the Forbidden Lands. This area is just past Leyndell, Royal Capital, and requires players to ride the Grand Lift of Rold up from the Northern edge of the city. Thankfully, an NPC at the base of the lift will give players the medallion needed to unlock the lift for use. That said, making it to and through the Royal Capital is no small feat.

Players will first need to access the Altus Plateau to be able to enter the city itself, which can be done by piecing together the Dectus Medallion or defeating an imposing Magma Wyrm atop the Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Once players have managed to make it up the Grand Lift of Rold and to the Forbidden Lands, they'll need to continue through the small enclosed area and out of a cave entrance, where they will enter the snowy area that leads to the Mountaintops of the Giants.

To get the Phantom Slash Art of War, players will need to tangle with the wandering Night's Cavalry that patrols the area. The boss can be found a short distance Northeast of the Site of Grace. It's important to note that the boss will only spawn at night, so players will need to head to the Site of Grace nearby and change the time to night, if they don't spot the Night's Cavalry. Once players defeat the Night's Cavalry boss, they will be granted the Phantom Slash Ash of War.

The Night's Cavalry can be pretty difficult to deal with, as it rides towards players on horseback. It is possible to knock the rider from its mount by depleting the horse's health bar, but the boss will eventually respawn the steed with full health. This fight is a bit easier if players use Torrent and battle back against the boss in a jousting match of sorts, though it is important to note that the area in which you fight the Night's Cavalry isn't nearly as wide-open as other battles, so players will need to be careful and be aware of where the cliff-edges are at all times to avoid falling.

What Does The Phantom Slash Ash Of War Do?

Elden Ring Phantom Slash Stats

The Phantom Slash is a flashy attack that doubles a player's damage output when striking an enemy by summoning a golden phantom that slices through the opponent before the player follows up with their own upward slash. It's a beautifully choreographed attack that is capable of doing quite a bit of damage to enemies that are directly in front of where the player is aiming. There isn't much AOE potential with this attack, but it does move pretty quickly after a short initial windup. Players can also perform an additional attack input to keep the string going.
