General Radahn is one of the primary story bosses in Elden Ring, as he is one of the game’s shardbearing demigod characters. Radahn is also described as being one of the most powerful characters in the game, as before the events of Elden Ring, Radahn had fought Malenia to a standstill in the Wailing Dunes of Caelid. This is where the player will still find Radahn and where a festival has arisen around defeating the now Scarlet Rot-infested wandering demigod.
Despite his weakened state, however, Radahn is still an incredibly powerful enemy, which is why Elden Ring player's are offered the chance to summon a horde of NPC characters in order to help with this difficult boss fight.
Although Radahn is weakened and in a feral state when the player reaches his boss fight, it is only revealed upon defeating him just how powerful he still is. Players learn that Radahn has been holding the stars in Elden Ring in place using gravity magic, though they were given a hint at this power during the boss' second phase transition, when he launches into the sky before crashing down at the player like a meteor. This meteor attack is usually a one-hit kill if it strikes the player directly, but a skilled Elden Ring player on Reddit named DaddyWhoGames has found a precise way to counter the devastating attack.
The Reddit user shared a clip which shows Radahn in the middle of his meteor attack, as he can be seen hurtling towards the player character. Then, with perfect timing, the Reddit user throws an Ancient Lightning Spear at Radahn, which connects just before he hits the ground and breaks his poise. This negates all damage from the meteor attack and immediately opens Radahn up for a critical attack from the player. Radahn’s second phase is then over before it begins as the player quickly finishes him off.
This meteor attack is usually the make-or-break point for the General Radahn boss fight. Elden Ring players have a better chance of beating Radahn if they can get past this attack relatively unscathed. In this way, the Reddit user’s trick could be an extremely useful method for getting past this difficult and often unpredictable part of Radahn’s boss fight, although the extremely narrow time frame that players have to work with does mean that the trick may not be viable for first-time players of Elden Ring.
There are easier ways to get past this boss' brutal meteor attack and even methods to cheese the Radahn fight in Elden Ring. However, none may be more satisfyingly skillful than seeing Radahn’s most powerful attack completely canceled out in a single second.
