Elden Ring became FromSoftware's biggest launch until now, and it shares several aspects with other titles from the developer. Some of them are adored by fans, while others aren't. As with other FromSoftware titles, Elden Ring doesn't feature a pause button.

FromSoftware is famous for not adding the pause feature in its games, and Elden Ring has become the latest addition. In FromSoftware's defense, it says that it makes the games more challenging and engaging. However, not everyone is a fan of this unusual feature.

The absence of a pause button forces players to remain engaged throughout the entire duration of the game. Gamers need to find an isolated and hidden location when they want to have a little break from all the action. However, Elden Ring players can have some respite and enjoy pausing the game using a simple mod. Modder TechieW has emerged as the savior with this mod that allows players to pause the PC version of the game. The mod is called "Pause The Game" and does exactly what the name suggests. It adds a working pause button to the game and is pretty easy to install.

At first glance, this mod seems to be the perfect answer to the pausing problem. However, that is not the case, as this mod comes with a trade-off. Players will have to give up the online components of Elden Ring if they want to use this mod. The game is not designed to be paused; hence, the only way to use the Pause The Game mod is to launch it offline. Gamers need to disable the Easy Anti-Cheat service to boot Elden Ring in offline mode. Modders have come to the rescue in the past with another Elden Ring PC mod that removes framerate cap of 60 fps.

Modders have emerged as influential stakeholders in today's gaming milieu who possess much power. Streamers are another group that holds significant power, mainly because of their massive fanbase. Interestingly, Elden Ring has not managed to woo the streamer community just yet, most notably Summit1g, who was very vocal about his views. Summit1g criticized Elden Ring for the open-world being too empty.

Besides the gameplay issues, the game has also faced performance issues and bugs. One viral video shows a notorious Elden Ring bug that causes levitation and leaves players stranded in the air.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
