Elden Ring has finally arrived and gamers everywhere are taking time out of their busy days to explore the Lands Between and battle its many imposing inhabitants. Like many Soulslike games, the latest FromSoftware title features a host of terrifying bosses that give players plenty of chance to die and die again. However, Elden Ring also takes after its predecessors by making sure that even basic enemies can ruin someone's day, as one unlucky player discovered when an intense boss fight ended in the most ridiculous way possible.

One of the many boss types Elden Ring has to offer is the Night's Cavalry, which can be encountered in Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, and Caelid. These formidable foes take the form of huge knights riding dark horses and wielding devastating glaives or flails.

Redditor aGhostWolf recently shared a video of themselves locked in mounted combat with a Night's Cavalry boss. In the video, both the player and their quarry are down to their last shreds of health, leaving them to ride in circles around each other looking for weakness. After about 15 seconds of tension and preemptive dodging, the player makes a sudden left turn and charges right into the path of a foe with a torch. The impact kills them instantly and the iconic "You died" announcement fills the screen.

These torch-wielding enemies have rapidly made a name for themselves as foes players don't want to fight on horseback. Although they're pretty easy to dispatch on foot, they become incredibly effective against mounted players. Their ability to rapidly turn in a mounted player's direction and take out massive amounts of health means that aGhostWolf would probably have died even if they hadn't been down to their last bit of health. However, the fact that they were so close to overcoming the Night's Cavalry or being killed by it certainly makes the ending of the fight more hilarious.

As of writing, it appears that other players are sympathetic to aGhostWolf's plight. Several users offered their condolences, even if they found the circumstances funny. This is far from the first time that a FromSoftware boss fight has taken a turn for the hilarious, after all. A number of users commiserated about the torch-bearing enemies and shared their own stories about high-risk boss fights that ended badly for them. One user even explained that something similar happened to them while fighting the dragon in the swamp, but they were killed by a crab rather than someone with a torch.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
