Elden Ring has been one of the gaming industry’s most anticipated titles since its announcement at E3 2019. The game, developed by FromSoftware, the team behind Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the Dark Souls series, has been in and out of the public eye since it’s initial announcement, with scarce information that only continued to fuel speculation and hype from dedicated FromSoft fans.

The story of Elden Ring, written in collaboration with George R.R. Martin, author of A Song of Fire and Ice, takes place in a realm known as the Lands Between, as players must mark on a quest to collect the Great Runes, scattered shards of the Elden Ring, an ancient artifact that hold great power over the world. The gameplay is very reminiscent of past FromSoft titles such as the aforementioned Souls series, with a great emphasis on players overcoming challenging enemies and obstacles.

So far, reviews for Elden Ring have been nothing but universal acclaim, with fans and critics alike lauding FromSoft’s latest title for its expansive worldbuilding and unique combat mechanics that set it apart from other games in FormSoft’s library. However, not everyone has had the opportunity to join in on everything the game has to offer.

Elden Ring Out of Bounds Bear

Currently, players on both Xbox and Steam have been hit with sever error screens, denoting a failed network status. While players are still able to play the game offline by altering their launch settings on steam, many online functions with the game, such as the multiplayer elements in Elden Ring, will not be able to be accessed.

While this may be frustrating for some, it doesn’t come as too much as a surprise to many players. Elden Ring reached 600,000 players after the game launched on Steam, and with how much hype has been surrounding the title, it stands to reason that server congestion was going to be a major factor following the game’s immediate release.

While Bandai Namco, which published the game, has already addressed some performance issues in Elden Ring that have popped up so far, it hasn’t been enough to deter players from diving into the game. There is plenty to see and explore in the Lands Between, and it will be exciting to see what players find while experiencing this new title.

Elden Ring is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
