Elden Ring is the most ambitious Soulsborne title that FromSoftware has produced yet, and one way this ambition shows is the significantly larger cast found in this outing. FromSoftware titles are often filled with tragic figures that players can learn more about as they travel across the world and gather items. One of Elden Ring's many tragic characters is the unfortunate demigod Miquella, and one fan recently made a connection between him and a uterine rupture. Spoilers for Elden Ring ahead.
Miquella of the Haligtree was one of the children of Queen Marika and Radagon, the second Elden Lord. He was the twin brother of Malenia, Blade of Miquella, though unlike his sister, he was apparently cursed with eternal childhood. Looking into Miquella will reveal that he made an attempt to grow a new Erdtree after discovering that the Golden Order was unable to treat Malenia's rot.
Comparing Miquella's Cocoon To a Uterine Rupture
Redditor DarkSabbaths made a post comparing the appearance of Miquella's cocoon with a real-world medical condition, the uterine rupture. Uterine rupture is an emergency complication that can occur during pregnancy when the uterus tears. This can result in the unborn baby being driven into the mother's abdomen and can cause severe blood loss, as well as a variety of birth injuries. Miquella's cocoon bears a suspicious resemblance to at least one diagram of how a uterine rupture works.
DarkSabbaths' post shows two images: one of Miquella's cracked-open cocoon with an arm dangling out and one of a medical diagram of a uterine rupture. This second diagram also shows a round, organic container with a vertical tear running up its surface, through which an arm is poking out. While Miquella's cocoon isn't the same shape as the uterus and the crack seems to bear more similarity with a broken eggshell, the resemblance between the two images is still uncanny. The comparison grows even more apt when gamers remember a root formation that can be found in Malenia's arena.
In the roots of the Haligtree, gamers can find a specific clump of roots that resembles a human face. Around it are more roots that give it the appearance of long hair, a gently curving chest, and a single shoulder. However, the most suspicious element is what appears to be a large hole gouged into the figure roughly in the area where a pregnant person's stomach would be. Some gamers have theorized that this is where Miquella's cocoon was before Mohg, Lord of Blood stole him away.
