Elden Ring features plenty of Minor Erdtrees at which players can grab new abilities for their Flask of Wonderous Physick. Beneath each Erdtree lie catacombs that the player can explore to find Grave Glovewort and unique Spirit Ashes for summoning.

One such catacomb can be found in Caelid, an early game area to the east of Limgrave. Featuring dead ends and hidden routes aplenty, this guide will tour players through the Minor Erdtree Catacombs to claim the Mad Pumpkin Head Ashes to help with Elden Ring's punishing fights.

Where to Find the Minor Erdtree Catacombs

The Minor Erdtree can be found early on in the Caelid Wilds, just to the east of the Smoldering Church, down a slope laden with enemies. At the tree's base, players can fight an Erdtree Avatar to get their hands on the Greenburst Crystal and Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tears for their invaluable Flask of Wonderous Physick. The Catacombs themselves can be found tucked away in the cliff face behind the Erdtree on the right.

Minor Erdtree Catacombs Walkthrough

Once inside the catacombs, activate the Site of Grace and continue forwards. As players come to a right turn, an Imp will drop from the ceiling; after dealing with it, turn right and, before taking the elevator down, look left to activate the summoning pool.

At the bottom of the elevator shaft, players will be given two paths leading east and west. Take the eastern path around to the left to a pool of dreaded Scarlet Rot, grabbing the Grave Glovewort (4) on the way.

Players should wait before heading in, as Skeletal Slimes will drop from the ceiling. These creatures can be quite tough against melee builds but are weak to magic; their slow movement and attack speed mean they can be easily avoided by players who don’t wish to fight them, as long as they don’t let themselves get surrounded.

Enter the room and run through the pool to the other side of the room, avoiding the firebomb throwing Imp and the Scarlet Rot water. In this room, players can find Grave Glovewort (3) and (5) and some Grave Violet and an Aconian Butterfly.

Now, head back to the elevator and take the western path down the stairs and to the left to continue exploring FromSoftware's twisty dungeon.

There’ll be another Imp waiting for players here, so be sure to deal with it before progressing. Grab the Grave Violet on the left and enter a square room with two Imps inside. At the back of the room lies another Grave Glovewort (5) for picking.

In the next room, two more Imps lie in wait to the right and on the ceiling, ready to ambush the player; deal with them, grab the Grave Violet on the right and pull the lever by the statue before heading back to the elevator.

Here, stand on the elevator button and quickly hop off before it rises. Underneath is another area the player can explore; simply drop down and fight the Imp at the bottom.

Head down the stairs into another rot-infested area and watch some more Skeletal Slimes drop from above. Run through the rot and take a narrow passageway on the right leading to a room with an item at the end.

Some hostile crabs will emerge from the ground though they pose little threat. Grab the Golden Rune (4) and Elden Ring's precious Grave Glovewort next to it before turning around and taking the ladder on the left.

At the top is a room flanked by sarcophaguses with a sneaky Imp in the corner. Kill it and keep going forward, picking the Grave Glovewort (3) on the way.

Now, the player will be ambushed by two Imps from either end of the hallway; upon dealing with them, keep going to grab the Imp Head (Wolf) off a corpse in the room ahead to make the Tarnished look like one of Elden Ring's more annoying enemies.

Face south and take the archway out onto the platform overlooking the Scarlet Rot room from before. Take revenge on the two bomb-throwing Imps and pick up the Sacramental Buds from the body hanging over the ledge. Also up here on the left sits some Grave Glovewort (5).

From here, drop down and head back towards the elevator. Drop down again to reach the Scarlet Rot-filled corridor and, this time, run straight ahead and take a left at the end.

Here is the door to the Erdtree Burial Watchdog Duo and the goofy looking Mad Pumpkin Head Ashes, as well as a Statue of Marika for players to respawn at. This can be a tough fight, so head to the summoning pool at the top of the elevator should help be needed.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
