Elden Ring is full of dramatic and memorable moments. The world map has been masterfully crafted so that whichever direction the player rides in they will come across a place of interest. These locations can range from important landmarks in Elden Ring's world to secret dungeons, with even the most innocuous caves often leading to easily missed labyrinths or entirely new secret areas.

Elden Ring’s open world is so good because it isn't worried about the player missing some of these locations. The game knows that where ever the player goes in Elden Ring they will find something interesting. But the nature of open world-games also allows players to create their own fun, outside the crafted points of interest made by the developers.

This is exactly what Reddit user u/Lawlknight did when playing through Elden Ring again on NG+. When the Reddit user came again to Nokron, Eternal City, one of the game’s huge but entirely missable areas that is a part of Ranni's quest line. Reaching the now iconic Mimic Tear boss fight, u/Lawlknight took to Reddit for a comedy retelling of what they witnessed when they summoned for the fight, their own +10 Mimic Tear Spirit Ash that they received in the previous playthrough of the game.

The Mimic Tear boss fight is against an enemy that replicates the player character exactly. Taking the form of an NPC enemy the fight is essentially against a mirror version of the player. After defeating the Mimic Tear, players can find the Mimic Tear Spirit Ashes that does the same thing, working as an NPC co-op helper that looks exactly like the player character. Returning to this boss fight in NG+ allows players to summon this Mimic Tear helper during the fight, meaning the fight will involve three player characters with exactly the same weapons and equipment.

The Reddit user tells of what happened when they unequipped all weapons and items, so that both Mimic Tears would be completely unarmed, and then let them duke it out. Damage output for a single hit in NG+ would usually be no less than 400, but these two clones were only doing single digit damage to each other. The fight apparently lasted several hours, but this is uncertain as u/Lawlknight, the battle’s chronicler, did seemingly embellish the story in some other instances, such as when the music changed or when the Reddit user prayed to the in-game deity for forgiveness.

The Mimic Tear Spirit Ash was a fan favorite among Elden Ring players but was nerfed in the 1.03 patch along with several other overpowered and therefore unsurprisingly also fan favorite weapons.

Elden Ring is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
