Elden Ring is full of exciting boss encounters, with the summon-filled Radahn encounter and intense fight with Malenia often getting a bulk of attention from the community. However, the Mimic Tear is another interesting Elden Ring fight that is worthy of some appreciation.

While many may be more focused on picking up the Mimic Summon Ashes and getting to use one of Elden Ring’s Mimics themselves, the boss is still a fun time. Its main gimmick is that it closely copies the build of the player’s Tarnished, taking everything from their armor to their equipped weapons and using it in the fight. While the fight can certainly be harder if players have very strong builds, gamers will likely know the weaknesses of their own setup and can exploit them during the battle.

Aside from the Mimic Tear perfectly copying the player’s equipped Elden Ring weapons and armor, there are some neat ways to make the fight easier. For example, players could remove all their armor when the Mimic Tear spawns in, quickly putting it back on before it can attack. This way, it has far less health to deal with. However, Redditor Going_Loki has found a way to truly shame the Mimic Tear, as they managed to defeat it without even fighting.

At the start of the five-minute clip, the Elden Ring player shows that their Tarnished is completely naked apart from a basic dagger with the Bloody Slash Ash of War. This proves to be the key to pulling off a hitless run, as the Redditor knows that the Mimic Tear will use the ability. For those unfamiliar with this Ash of War, it sees players using their own blood to charge the attack, which means that they damage themselves upon each use of the ability. Sure enough, this is exactly what the Mimic Tear does.

For the entirety of the clip, Going_Loki runs around the arena, easily dodging this Elden Ring mini boss as it lowers its health with Bloody Slashes. The concept of a “hitless” run is hilarious, as it serves as a natural evolution of the “no hit” runs that the very best Elden Ring players will often do. Unsurprisingly, Reddit loved the Going_Loki's cleverness, getting a kick out of the boss being defeated without the player landing a single attack. As a result, the post has brought in nearly 20,000 upvotes in under a day.

With Elden Ring having been out for a few months now, players are starting to discover tricks that help them embarrass the game’s bosses. While some recent footage that showed a player dominating Malenia was certainly entertaining, so too is this look at a Mimic Tear slowly killing itself as a player watches.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
