Elden Ring is the latest offering in From Software's catalog of notoriously difficult action RPG games. As a spiritual successor to the popular Dark Souls series, many fans have sunk dozens of hours into the game already, boasting a Steam player base of 600,000 only an hour after its release on February 25th. One enthusiast, however, has spent their time studying the ruthless bosses differently, illustrating that the paintbrush is mightier than the sword.

Margit the Fell Omen is one of the first bosses players can encounter in their journey to seek the Elden Ring. Positioned at the entrance of Stormveil Castle near the beginning of the game, his abrupt arrival can be fatal if a player's armaments aren't upgraded appropriately. Regardless of his old appearance, a round with Margit is an exhaustive experience, with his unflinching heavy combos and hammer posing no effort in ending the protagonist. Despite this, it seems that making sure work of the challenging boss can also translate beautifully to canvas.

Reddit user salessalamander has produced a detailed painting of Margit the Fell Omen engaged in his lethal ground-pound attack. Posted to the Elden Ring subreddit, its intense dark brushstrokes truly capture the foreboding characteristic of the boss with grace. Noticeably contrasting with the expansive Lands Between in the background, the artwork illustrates the setting game beautifully. With many commentators appreciating the artist's ability to capture the airy cloak of Margit, their depiction has also led to the discussion of the game's exceptional graphics, by which the painting could easily be concept art for the boss.

The epic design, which was created on Clip Studio Paint by the artist, has since had many fans of the title seeking their own print of the visually stunning painting. Since its upload, the artist has responded to hopeful admirers of the piece, stating that they will share a digital print of the painting to their personal store for those wishing to buy one.

Players first got a glimpse of Margit the Fell Omen in a short demo clip last year, however, this did little in making their encounter easier. Being hailed as one of the hardest early bosses in Elden Ring, the sudden roadblock is a harsh reminder to players of what is to come further along the line. While one player has been stylistic in defeating Margit, it seems expression is not solely limited to within the game.

Even though Margit the Fell Omen is only an optional boss, their location as part of the most obvious path that takes players into Stormveil castle has proven to be a significant challenge for many players, including long-term fans of FromSoftware titles. While the encounter may call for more Sacred Tears, swapping out tarnished for varnish has, indeed, wielded a triumphant outcome for one fan.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
