The results are in for Elden Ring, and after breaking wishlist, sales, and player number records, it is clear the game has lived up to much of its hype. With a new take on FromSoftware gameplay, a massive open world full of discoveries, and an incredibly deep and interesting story, Elden Ring has quickly been hailed as a future Game of the Year nominee.

However, though it is more open-ended than previous FromSoftware titles, that does not mean that the game is easy by any means. Between incredibly challenging story bosses such as Margit, The Fell Omen as well as optional bosses like Elden Ring's Crucible Knight, it is chock-full of insane challenges for players to tackle.

In this game, where the Elden Ring goats can kill players, even some of the more average enemies encountered in the open world can be a challenge. One of the more unique and challenging of these enemies is certainly the maneuverable flamethrowers. Dubbed head tanks by some due to their being shaped like a humanoid head, the vehicles are quite durable and hard to take down unless a player knows their weaknesses.

Luckily for players, Reddit user Quickmemer has discovered a way to make these annoyingly tanky enemies rather trivial as long as players can find a vantage point. This is because Quickmemer discovered the tanks can be critically struck if the player commences a falling attack onto them. The critical strike will one-shot the tanks, making for a much easier battle than trying to fight them hand-to-hand. Much like an incredibly powerful Elden Ring katana, being able to critically strike the head tanks allows for much cleaner kills where players can avoid damage.

Because of the sheer amount of content in the game, including a heavy diversity of enemies, it is fair to say that some players may have never figured this detail out on their own. Quickmemer's discovery will certainly be a surprise to some players across all skill levels who had either been killing the head tanks the hard way or resorting to avoiding them entirely. Thus, much like how Elden Ring bloodstains teach players to avoid danger, clips like Quickmemer's serve to save players from tedious fights or even dying to annoying enemies such as the head tanks.

Tips like Quickmemer's are a part of what has made FromSoftware games great over the years: community collaboration. Between messages, bloodstains, player interaction, and online posts, the FromSoftware gaming community has continuously sought to help each other in each game over the years. Elden Ring is just the latest example of this, with posts like Quickmemer's teaching new players and Souls veterans alike a new way to defeat a challenging enemy.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
