An Elden Ring player defeats Malenia using her own move, as the fan unleashes the Scarlet Aeonia attack to finish her off. Malenia is probably the hardest boss in Elden Ring, and new data reveals that users have tried to defeat her over 300 million times. This number is much higher than any other boss in Elden Ring, with Margit, Radagon, Radahn, and the Tree Sentinel in Limgrave also in the rankings.

Even though Malenia is a challenging boss, Elden Ring players have developed various strategies for defeating her. As an example, one fan realized that throwing a Freezing Pot can prove to be highly effective against Malenia, as it can interrupt one of her deadliest moves, the Waterfowl Dance attack. Now, one gamer uploads a video in which they beat Malenia using another one of her signature moves.

A Reddit user named jdyhrberg has shared a clip of their fight against Malenia in Elden Ring, with the boss having a sliver of health left. The player watches Malenia utilize one of her attacks and waits for an opening, before using the Scarlet Aeonia incantation to deplete the last bit of her HP. Scarlet Aeonia is one of Malenia's unique special attacks along with Waterfowl Dance, but players can only obtain this move after defeating her and exchanging the remembrance at the Roundtable Hold. So, this video appears to be from a subsequent playthrough of Elden RIng.

Many Elden Ring fans in the comments section make note of the player using Malenia’s own attack to defeat her, with a few users stating that jdyhrberg used a reverse card from the game Uno. Some gamers also praise the move’s animation, with one fan giving jdyhrberg +100 style points. On the other hand, one user believes that Malenia should be immune to her own attack, spawning a discussion on her stats and resistances. Overall, fans seem to love this clip as it shows Malenia getting “Malenia’d.”

Gamers should note that FromSoftware has already announced a new DLC for Elden Ring titled Shadow of the Erdtree. Little is known about this expansion at the moment, so users will have to wait for the development team to release gameplay footage that showcases the new content. It’ll be interesting to see if any bosses in this DLC can top Malenia in terms of challenge and popularity, and if players can discover even more creative ways to overcome this boss.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
