With Elden Ring designed to give players more freedom than any other FromSoftware game, running away and coming back later is usually a valid option. However, it seems like it is a bit harder to flee in certain Elden Ring areas, something that was shown clearly in a recent clip.

The footage in question shows a player running away from one of the Leyndell Knights in Elden Ring’s royal capital. One of the most memorable locations in the entire game, players can explore various levels of the city, visit a version of the Roundtable Hold, and access the well-hidden Subterranean Shunning Grounds. At one point when traversing the city, gamers will need to ascend a massive dragon corpse, climbing the beast’s body to continue making progress within Leyndell.

While there are a handful of threats to deal with when exploring Leyndell, the Leyndell Knights are among the most challenging. Alongside some large golden armor that can make them a bit tough to bring down, they can wield some incredibly dangerous lightning attacks against the player. Clearly having enough of fighting these enemies, Reddit user radiodaemon66 fled from a Leyndell Knight, likely having doubts that it would be able to follow. Sure enough, though, this Knight refused to give up pursuit.

While an Elden Ring enemy following players closely when they attempt to run is normally nothing out of the ordinary, this clip stood out due to the location of the chase. Instead of chasing the player through city streets or up a staircase, the Leyndell Knight managed to ascend the body of the dragon. This is a bit surprising, as the path up the dragon seems like one that an NPC would have trouble sticking to. Despite looking like a bit of platforming only a player would be capable of performing, though, the Knight managed to make all the necessary turns to fully ascend the dragon.

At the top of the dead creature, the Leyndell Knight begins readying one of Elden Ring’s bows. With the Redditor waiting at the top of the ladder and watching the AI’s impressive pathing, they likely would have been hit with the arrow once the clip reached its end. Regardless, seeing the enemy climb the dragon is a memorable sight, as is their wise decision to stop at the top to line up a shot. Unsurprisingly, the post has done well with the Elden Ring community on Reddit, bringing in over 14,500 upvotes for radiodaemon666.
